Hi Everyone

This is my first time posting
I have recently purchased a z97 5 and built my own PC
Everything is running perfectly except for my line out audio jack
My sound is coming out very Fuzzy/static and I have installed the realtek drivers and even tried without them
I thought it might be the speakers but I tried with my secondary ones and the sound is still coming out badly, Right now I am using my hdmi speakers through my monitor.
This is quite frustrating, could anyone please give me help with this or could this be a fault on the Mobo?  :confused2:

My Spec:
Intel i5 - 4690
MSI Z97 Gaming 5
MSI Geforce 760gtx oc
Corsair 8gb Vengeance
550w thermaltek psu

Any feedback would be appreciated.
Thank you!  :worship:

Hi JLio01

Thank you for replying

I have not even connected the front jack audio pins to the motherboard. But I will try later today!

Also I was reading the manual and I saw something about a switch for direct audio power?

Appreciated!

Yes you can use the direct audio power adapter like this:

..and connect it to your PSU.
Might improve the audio function a little bit, worth a try!

Unfortunately this did not solve the problem

Im out of ideas

Maybe I will buy a sound card or even send the Mobo back for a replacement  :undecided:

Once in a while there might be a bad sample of a board.. you might have drawn the bad one this time.
I don't think it's good idea to ignore the issue (if it's really hardware based issue), but replace the motherboard. Buying a sound card is of course, great idea, but will not resolve the issue if you ever would like to use on board sound again.

What if you try without graphics card? Also what exact PSU is that? Sometimes it's PSU causing different issues (yes even with sound).
Also did you try speakers only, or maybe headphones too?

Uuum I think I found the solution....

Don't hate on me now, but the screw for mounting the motherboard and earthing right underneath the audio jacks (with the light going up to it) was not in! I put it in last night and TA-DA Sound was working  :hiha:

But now the speakers have some sort of wind/static noise coming through it!

So I Need to try sort that problem out now! Maybe because of not earthing in the first place that could have damaged the board?

Nichrome, Its a thermaltek lite power 550w

I will be getting a 730w next week, just waiting for it to come in, so lets hope that that can sort the problem out, if not then I might as well send the board back, you're right about not keeping something that is not 100%

Thank you  :)

It could be due to an earthing problem with your speakers.
If your sound is now grounded properly, the hiss could be an issue with the grounding of the speakers.
Or it could just be that you have the volume/amplification within Windows turned up so high that it is causing it.

Hi Darkhawk

I did try two different speaker sets and a set of headphones that plug into the line-out, and still I get the windy noise!
I also checked the settings on windows and the realtek drivers and everything is in order
So I requested a swap of the board from the site I bought it from!
I really do hope getting a new Mobo sorts this problem out!
I will post my results as soon as it ships! Hold thumbs :)

Thank you for the help though!

Hey Guys

So my replacement mobo shipped in and I removed the old one and placed my new one in, earthed everything properly this time...
And boom its working perfectly :)

I guess the board was faulty!

Thank you all for previously trying to help! :)
