Hi,
Setup my new PC and immediately began to download all drivers/utilities from the MSI website.

I installed and ran the MSI LiveUpdate. I ran the BIOS update which promptly blue screen the PC. I have read the topic MSI Z97 Gaming not booting after BIOS Flash posted here from another user in June 2014. (https://forum-en.msi.com/index.php?threads/180978)

I have tried a memory stick over night into the black ports at the back, and woke up to the F2 error.

Currently trying another memory stick, how do you know if it is working/worked? Will it reboot the PC and come on once it's updated?

Another question, extracting the BIOS .zip to the memory stick, is it best to copy the folder to the memory stick, or to copy the contents of the extracted folder on to the memory stick so it's on the root?

My OS is Windows 8.1 and I enabled FastBoot before I tried to update the BIOS.

Will appreciate any help!

Yeah, I extracted the files to to the root of the USB stick. I have just solved the issue, something that wasn't mentioned in the topic I referred to was that the memory stick must be Fat32.

Unplugged all components apart from graphics card and keyboard. Plugged the now re-formatted memory stick (was NTFS) in to the back black port and it booted into the BIOS screen, where I could then update it from the memory stick.

Pleased that it is now working!
