MSI Z97 Gaming 7 rear panel audio - WEAK

I thought I was wrong, but yes. The rear audio panel's output volume is much weaker than the front panel's. I know this issue has been brought up before, and it didn't seem like there was any solution. I'm hoping it will be different today.

I tried uninstalling both Realtek's audio drivers (yes, the latest and greatest from MSI's website), as well as SBC2, again the latest and greatest. Checked Audio Boost headers and switch, and yes both are good to go.

What puzzles me is why it isn't weak and slightly distorted if I am using the front panel. I know it's a minor inconvenience, but I hate the idea that there are wires where I usually plug in my flash drive.

Is this a flaw of MSI's Z97 board?

I think, the back audio ports are not amplified, only the front port, please post what are you plugging to that output (brand and model).
And "IF" it's a flaw it's fixable with a sound card.

I use a Logitech G230. Tried my earphones too, a Klipsch S4i, as well as my brother's Sennheiser PC 360. All the same result. For the G230, I plug in the audio jack and the mic jack.

It wouldn't make a difference if I enumerated what audio equipment I use, because the problem goes away if I plug it in the front panel audio and mic jacks. So that means the problem isn't with the audio equipment I am using.

Buying a sound card isn't an ideal solution. Those things are slowly vanishing anyway. on-board audio has come a long way too. :-(

Well i thought you were using high Impedance headphones, that's why the question, either way wait for a response from msi people since they know what happens with their mobos, and a soundcard compared to on board audio, the comparison is like day and night, trust me as a musician my ears caught something a lot different. I advise you the card i have SoundBlaster Zx comes with nichicon capacitors high quality and cheap, or if you are more into audio get a usb dac which is a personal taste so my advice maybe sound bad to you.

I don't think I have ears that good to notice the difference. I mainly use it for gaming anyway. But I will certainly keep it in mind.

It just puzzles me why the rear audio panel's output is noticeably weaker. Perhaps Audio Boost is flawed? Does anyone else experience this?

This is normal, but I don't think there's a really tremendous difference between them? Well if you really need a solution...install Sound Blaster Cinema 2, cuz it makes the rear jack louder.

I do have SBC2 installed, and it makes no difference. Still no reply from an MSI rep? Does that mean you're admitting that the design for the rear audio panel is flawed?
