Hello,

I'm new here...just recently purchased a MSI GT83vr 6RF Titan SLI (October 2016). Recently I've noticed some apparent issues with this notebook.
For starters it's constantly restarting itself and sometimes it'll restart while it's in the middle of restarting causing a "Windows Failed to load Properly" window.
THIS IS MOST ANNOYING.

Another issue is the NUM pad stopped working as a NUM pad.

Yet another issue is the MSI True Color now "Fails to load configuration".

I've uninstalled the True Color/deleted the folders and reinstalled all with no luck.
I've attempted to update the SSE3 engine for the keyboard, reinstalled or attempted to reinstall the drivers from the CD provided and from the MSI Support page all with no luck.

I've read that a failing power supply or "Y" cable could possibly cause the restart issue although I can't see how really as long as the battery has a charge. (the power supply and cable(s) are most cumbersome, had I known I probably wouldn't have purchased this $5000 USD paper weight...)

MSI Support suggests a "Restore to factory settings" and "start over"...That seems a bit impractical and more of a "knee [***CENSORED***], we don't know what your issue is so lets just erase everything and start over, sorry you lost all your "stuff" go to response.

I'm hoping someone here has more intelligence and problem solving skills besides, "Factory Reset".

Thank you in advance :)

I recently purchased the MSI Titan Pro 4k with the GTX 1080.  I too have had a few issues.  Windows 10 will crash every once in awhile, giving me a blue screen telling me there was an error and a qr code box.

The biggest issue, is that some of my games will not work.  Bioshock Infinite for example, will load up, will start at 50+fps at 4k, then the screen will constantly minimize itself and go to my desktop.  I have a similar issue with Middle Earth: Shadows of Mordor; the screen minimizes, then the game opens back up at the pause menu.  Other games like Forza Horizon 3 will give me Direct x11 errors, as well as load up and only run at 10fps.  Mind you, when running good it will run this game at 60+fps in 4k.

I bought mine through XoticPC, and they too told me to reinstall Windows.  Now I have tried that as well, however it doesn't find the file to do a reset.  I had an Asus before, and never had a problem with that.  This much money on a laptop, and it only works part time.

My issue isn't that it wouldn't play games; BF4, Arma2/3, RE7...its that it would retstart randomly, usually while plugged in. I read somewhere that the PSU could be the cause and noticed that after attempting multiple resets, when ever I plug in to charge the batteries, it restarts...needless to say, my resets have been extremely difficult and incomplete. The $5k notebook is now officially a paperweight...useless. and windows couldn't find the necessary file either.
Beginning to think this GT83VR Titan 6RF 1080SLI was THE Worst investment Ever!

Hello sbnemesys,
Please don?t hijack other people?s thread. The symptom of your problem sounds like game troubles. Maybe following guide could help.

Hi gotactical,
Use latest Help Desk to export the system info and post the text information in here.

Is the shutdown problem looks like BSOD? BSOD issue could find the mini dump from C:\Windows\Minidump. You could attach them in post.

Konstantin,

I'm at work now, but I'll be sure to post when I get home. I believe though that I did post the "help desk export" on my original post.
If the PSU is the problem, how can I tell? (2 bricks and a "Y" cable) and if not, if it's all Windows 10 Update related, how can I prevent it from updating until a fix is available?
The notebook started out Rockin! It was Awesome! blazingly fast, then about a month or so ago it just started to "restart" randomly on it's own.
then the restarts became more frequent followed by MSI True Color "failed to load configuration file". Updating didn't solve that issue and things just kept getting progressively worse.
The other night I said "screw it" and did the "restore to factory settings" and it's been a nightmare ever since.
