My computer always fails to start the first time (X99S GAMING 9 AC + Win 8.1)

Hello everybody!  :)

I have a problem with my new desktop computer.
Every time I turn it on, Windows fails to start after the bootscreen and shows me a BSOD. After that, the computer reboots itself, tries to use Automatic Repair and tells me that maybe rebooting the computer could solve the issue, so I reboot the computer and everything works fine. I have to do this every time I turn on my computer.  :cry:

Sometimes it also happens when resuming from hibernation. Why does this happen? All my drivers are up to date.

My computer is the one in the signature.

what is the BSOD error code?
does it worked before?
have you done a new fresh OS installation on this new computer?

I didn't notice any error code in the BSOD.
Today I discovered that disabling MSI Fastboot and Fastboot from the BIOS fixes the issue.
Also, when I enable MSI Fastboot the USB Host Controllers don't start properly.
Am I the only one experiencing this? Fastboot is a really cool feature but not very usable at the moment.

Hi Dariodipalma, same problem on my MSI GAMING 7 x99. If i enable Fastboot or MSI fast boot the pc will go shutdown, but when start they show blue screen. I remove HD, restart the system and plug again, restart again and pc will boot. If i shutdown, same problem when start.

I also have the problem that the other user is experiencing when enabling MSI Fastboot.
I'm using an M.2 SSD as primary drive which always works fine, but when I plug my other hard drive using SATA or E-SATA port then the computer fails to start.

I enabled Fastboot/MSI Fastboot after installing the OS. Is it possible that reinstalling the OS now will fix the issue?
I'm not sure about this because it happens only with a SATA hard drive (Windows still boots from my M.2 SSD) but the computer remains stuck even before Windows bootscreen is shown so I'm not really sure this is a Windows-related problem, it looks more like a BIOS issue, correct me if I'm wrong.

I enabled before and the same problem. I use HD SSD Samsung Evo 840 w last firmware in SATA port 1.

I have a bluray drive recorder, a DVD recorder and a hard drive 1tb.

If I unplug everything and leave only the SSD, windows normally starts in quick boot. I believe it is a bug in fastboot msi / fastboot.

I tried with a 320gb HDD (normal drive, no ssd) SATA Western Digital, alone in port sata and windows starts normally, if I plug the other players and the hd 1tb, fast boot freezes at logo MSI and then present the following error: "MACHINE_CHECK_EXCEPTION" or "whea_uncorrectable_error".

To re-start, I have to remove the SATA cable, reset the PC, it will enter the UEFI BIOS, plug the HD and save and exit. By doing so the pc re-enters the windows. But if I turn off and on, he returns to lock the MSI logo. If I turn off the fastboot and MSI fast boot the pc starts normally.

It works if you leave the M.2 with the OS and the ssd together? My case the problem appears ing with the SSD  and w/ common HD WD320 Western Digital. Alone they work, along with some others, the problem appears. I dont have m.2 yet. :(

I have a M.2 SSD with Windows 8.1 installed and a SATA Hard Disk that I use for storage.

If I plug only the M.2 SSD everything works fine.
If I plug the M.2 SSD and the SATA HDD the computer fails to start.
I noticed that even enabling SATA Hot Plug on a SATA port causes the computer to fail to start! And in that case I couldn't just "unplug the drive" since there wasn't any drive plugged! I had to reset the BIOS using the button on the motherboard to make it boot again.

So it's definitely a BIOS-related issue, isn't it?

I do not let the hot-swap enabled. Yes, I'm sure the problem is in the bios with the part of the Fastboot/MSI fastboot, the rest works well.

My board is MSI Gaming 7 x99s.

In my case, i have a MSI X99s GAMING 7, and i use the first bios, and the last 2 bios, h5 and h6. Sata i have used the fist for SSD, second for HDD 1tb, 3 and 4 for DVD and Bluray Recorder. And i have same problem w Dipalma.

Please open your own thread instead of hijacking. Your system is different and solution might be different.

BIOS Version: 1.4 (Latest)

I've plugged a Samsung SATA HDD on SATA1 which I use for storage purpose, no boot.
Also, I've enabled Hot Plug on SATA9 and SATA10 because I've plugged the eSATA ports there.
