Need help connecting my gpu.

Ok so as the title says, I've to connect my gpy (it's a 7900GRE from sapphire). It has two 8 pins connector. The psu I have is MSI mag a750bn. It has one 16 pin 12vhpwr (300w) and one pcie 2x8pin cable. Yes, it has 2x8 pin but is a pigtail style (one cable which separates into two 8 pins) which I'm skeptical about. I asked around and people said I shouldn't be using that since my gpu has more than 200w tdp. I really don't wanna spend on another psu tbh. Can I just use an 12vhpwr to 2x8 pin adapter since the cable is rated for 300w?
