New 3060ti, one of the fans is grindy

I just bought and installed a brand new rtx 3060ti, ventus 3 and it's super quiet... when it's off. Once it spins up under load there was a good deal of grinding noise. I figured I had a cable or something near a fan so I took it out and checked them individually. Nope. The fan closest to the display output grinds/rattles when spun with an air blower. The other two remain silent.

Any ideas or solutions? Do I take it back?

can you take a video of the sound? does the sound get more noticeable when GPU loading gets heavy?

It's pretty constant when the fan is on. I got a video of it spinning down. I cranked the fans up in afterburner and it seems like I can control the back two fans but not the first one. The true fan noise gets louder and more noticeable but the grinding/ticking is really constant. Either that or I can't get it loaded up super heavy.

I don't have a ton of clearance next to those noctuas but I did check that nothing is touching the fan and that I can replicate the fan noise with the card out of the case, though not under load of course. So 99% nothing is rubbing. Bearing was my thought so back to the store I go. Sucks as I've been trying to get a card for months now. Thanks.

Could be the Fan hub rubbing on something and you can not fix that without a fan replacement

I have the same problem on a 3080 Gaming X Trio. If I push on the fan shroud the noise lessens or gets worse depending on direction. It appears the shroud either isn't positioned correctly from the factory, or the fan isn't. The clearance on one side of the fan making the noise is extremely small, so if the shroud has movement when the card gets screwed into place it will touch the tip of fan.

Yes, that was it. I loosened the screws holding the shroud in place and repositioned the shroud, making sure all fans had equal clearing everywhere. Then I fastened the screws taking care not to let the shroud move. The noise from the fan is gone now. Clearance was obviously the problem on closer inspection as the inside of the shroud had scratch marks from the fan blades. This is shoddy quality control.
