I was hopeful for a few hours and then it did it again.

Should I try forcing more applications to use the discrete graphics and to force the nvidia card to enforce max power for those? Under the suspicion that progress was made, but I should have marked more for high performance.

Or should I try to force the discrete graphics as the only choice either via Dragon Center or via the BIOS?

I just used the Nvidia Control Panel to force the Nividia as the default and forced it to high performance mode. I think that would do the same as setting more apps this way.

After making that change I rebooted.
Then I started WoW and it worked fine. I exited WoW and went to Chrome to go to a website. While viewing that website the laptop went to sleep.
Point is this happens even when WoW is not involved.

Is there a way to disable the integrated graphics controller in the BIOS and force it to only use the nvidia controller?

So currently does the laptop still go to sleep randomly?

About you were not able to downgrade BIOS, I think it's because of Windows Update.
Go to Device Manager, in the firmware section right click on "MS-17G3 SBIOS Ver.10F" and select uninstall device.
Select "Delete the driver software" and proceed to uninstall it.
Restart the laptop and try to downgrade again.

About force the laptop to only use the NVIDIA, your laptop should be able to do so.
Go to General settings in Dragon Center. Find GPU switch and set it to discrete graphics mode.

I'm not alone in this!

Very recently, my "MSI G575 Stealth" has been randomly going to sleep too. Such a frustrating problem.

It can happen any time, from gaming to just watching videos on Youtube. I did a full reinstall a couple days ago, but the problem began again today.

I tried a few solutions here, but nothing seems to be working. If it's INDEED a hardware issue, then an RMA should be offered.

You did any updates after the full reinstall? or any windows update?
What have you tried?

Yay I'm not alone!

I have disabled in the Dragon center. I have used the Nvidia graphics tools to force Windows to only use the discrete card. I have fully reinstalled from factory. I did get the BIOS to revert and tested and it still randomly went to sleep. Then Windows forced it to the newer bios which doesn't perform any better or worse, so I left it.

MSI has stopped responding to my support ticket after they told me to downgrade my bios and then told me it was not downgrading because I didn't follow their instructions. My guess is their front line staff doesn't have a call tree to explain what to tell customers for this, and they are not interested in looking into the engineering problem to find an actual solution.

I now have an RMA# from MSI so I can send it in for them to try to repair, but honestly I know they won't see the issue, won't fix it, and I will just write off the laptop and buy a new one from a different manufacturer before it ever got returned to me anyway.

So I keep using this machine that goes to sleep randomly during normal use.

Sorry for the mini rant, but this is frustrating to pay premium money for a premium machine only to have it suffer from such a problem as this.

Any other suggestions from anyone about what I could try are certainly appreciated. At this point I have given up on MSI to be totally honest.

The only updates done were the ones Windows automatically wanted to do.

I've attached the system info to this post.

I've tried this solution, where we turn off the ability to sleep/hibernate:

- no sleep on battery
- no sleep on lid closing
- no sleep on power button

So far, there have been a couple of times where the laptop *attempted* to go to sleep, but because the "no sleep" options are on for everything, the screen just flashes for a moment instead.

I'd like for the laptop to NOT try going to sleep at all, though.

I'm not sure if I should try editing the BIOS or not. I'm not very savvy with computers, and I'm worried I might break something if I tried...

The system info file you provide is not complete :\ can't see the driver version. Can you share the complete file?
The solution you tired, you refer to the following options right?

Don't tried to adjust BIOS.. may break the laptop if you're not familiar with it..

When I tried that method it worked for a few weeks. I also saw the "screen flash" effect you describe where the machine tried to go to sleep but was not allowed due to the settings.

After a week or so then it started to completely crash to a powered off state. When that happened it started corrupting the disc. So I completely restored to factory again at that point.

I am running completely factory settings. The only thing added beyond Windows is World of Warcraft.

I attached my data also (there are also versions going back to January in this thread for my rig as I have uploaded it multiple times.

I suggest you use windows media creation tool to install pure OS and check again. Just install everything from scratch.
If still, may have something to do with hardware. Send the laptop to the service center for a check.
Before you reinstall the system, you can follow this guide to create a backup of the factory system (in case you want to install it back in the future).

If I didn't use this laptop for work, I'd send it in for an inspection. Seems that's about all we can do at this rate. @_@ These things happen.

Yeah, unfortunately. The laptop still attempts to go to sleep mode, but can't because of the "no sleep on power button/closed lid" setting.

In Power Options, set "Allow Wake Timers" to "Disable" for both Battery and Plugged-in.
I had to do this on my friends laptop that was also going to sleep randomly.
