Hi guys

Got this laptop the other day and started playing Skyrim on the recommended settings (1080p and ultra high settings) but the frames per second is often absolutely terrible. When I encounter ememies it can go down to 16-17. It tends to go up and down between 20 and 35-40 on other occasions.

Considering how much I spent plus the fact this laptop has high specs (i7 processor, 8gb ram and geforce 570m card) I thought it could deal with current games comfortably on the recommended settings. I have all the latest updates for my laptop and also Steam/Skyrim.

Other people I know are getting much better fps playing skyrim

Just checked BF3 and I'm getting a dodgy framerate in that too. Given how high the specs I have are, I'm starting to think this might just be a poor laptop?

That's not any surprise considering people with desktop PC's are having problems with those games also.

Nobody can explain why I'm getting such poor fps though. What else can I try? I've made sure I'm on high performance power and plugged in, I've changed the nvidia control panal to performance rather than quality, updated graphics driver to latest on official nvidia website, installed up to date patches for games etc.

Is there anything else I can try? Is there any bench tests I could do to check there isn't something seriously wrong with the graphical performance of my machine?

I've since found out that the 570m is more like a 460 than a 570 card :/. That explains a lot. Wish I knew that prior to purchasing
