MSI just released yet another model of their 6870 video card categorized under the HAWK series. You will also see that it?s using the new Twin Frozr III cooler which looks better and comes with a ?Performance/Silent Hardware Switch Control? for the new Propeller Blade Fans. To make the VC more efficient and better in overclocking. Military Class II components such as Hi-C Cap (High conductivity and 15x less leakafe), Super Ferrite Chokes (provides 10% better power efficiency & 30% higher current capacity) and Solid capacitors are used.

Here are some box shots.

1st Test. 3dmark06 Stock GPU & 2600k @ 5GHz. I overclocked the processor to eliminate bottleneck with the card

2nd Test. Vantage Stock GPU & 2600k @ 5GHz

3rd Test. This run including the last one are just for the sake of benching the card and getting a good score with the 3dmark06 and Vantage. I managed the R6870 Hawk to run at amazing 1075MHz on the GPU core with the help of Afterburner. Even at high speed and GPU voltage was raised to 1.3mv. The card still runs cool.

Last run. Vantage @ Full Blast

Grats on your review mate!
I just bought the a 6870 hawk last day and now i'm trying to oc it... I'm on 1000/1200 with 1200voltage on a 3D profile in Afterburner... stock in 2D profile.
Can you give me any help  with some steps on OCing it? I got an i5 2500k @ 4.2ghz without adding extra voltage also.. any help appreciated.

UpToDate_, if you want OC help then open a new topic in OC & Mod section of our forum, this is not the place to ask for that kind of help.

K thanks for the responce!

(basically afterburner is not loading the 3D auto profile while ingame/furmark etc.) and stays always on 2D..that seems to be the problem ) :dots:

Again, great review.
