New SSD not being detected on BIOS

My laptop has a single PCIe Gen3 NVMe SSD slot. I decided to expand my storage from 512 GB to 2TB. I bought a PCIe Gen5 SSD (WD Black SN8100). I understand that it would be capped to Gen3 speeds but I bought it because I am getting a new pc soon. But the new SSD is not detected at all by BIOS. It says that the SSD slot is empty.

I have tested the new SSD on another Gen3 laptop and it works fine. I have updated my BIOS and the SSD's firmware to the latest version. Still my laptop doesn't detect it. It feels like some hardware or BIOS limitation of my laptop but PCIe generations are supposed to be backward compatible universally so theoretically it should work.

Please suggest what to do.

BIOS update to the latest version.
And check if the original PCIe Gen3 SSD works properly with the laptop.
But it might be a compatibility issue.
