Hello folks.
I'm building my first PC and I recently purchased a X58 Platinum + a 750W power supply.
a couple of questions I have.

1. I purchased 5 DDR3 memory cards. (Patriot 1333MHz). total of 10 gig. there will be one slot left empty. is it OK ?
here it is: http://www.circuitcity.com/applications/SearchTools/item-details.asp?EdpNo=4282860&CatId=4327

2. I purchased 2 Asus GTS 250 for 2 way SLI. is there any problem with SLI on this board? someone told me I can only link 2 CrossFires on this board.?!?!!
here is the GPU i bought: http://www.circuitcity.com/applications/SearchTools/item-details.asp?EdpNo=5274432&sku=A455-0250

3. I have 2 500GIG hard drives and would like to do a RAID1 on the drives. do I need a separate RAID card or this board can do the job for me?

Thank you in advance for your help and support.

a quick notice. the board is X58 Platinum SLI. I kept on reading the forum and looks like I'm fine. but again, I'll appreciate any feedback on the board as well.

WHAT??? DDR3 memory should come in triple kits, thus you get either 3 or 6 RAM modules. If you don't equip the board accordingly, I would expect wierd results and massively reduced speed as it would have to access the RAM differently. Furthermore, all modules should be of the same type for best results! I'm puzzled how you managed to get 5 modules anyway...it's typically all triple-kits, no single modules!

Also what version BIOS does it have? It must have 3.x for SLI, if it has 1.x you will need to flash 3.x for SLI.

Never mind, I just noticed your 2nd post, what I wrote above pertains to the X58 Platinum.

it's a long story about the memory. yes it did come in pack of 3, but I had to kiss one of them goodbye. how about Raid? can I do RAID0 on this board?  :oc:

Don't you have a manual? It should have instructions in it. It has Intel? ICH10R Chipset so yes it can do RAID. If your paper manual does not have instructions then use the PDF. http://www.msi.com/index.php?func=downloaddetail&type=manual&maincat_no=1&prod_no=1703

Appendix C Intel ICH10R SATA RAID...page C-1
Appendix D JMicron 322 RAID............page D-1
