FYI - I brought a USB External Stereo Adapter and I can now use my headset, its not perfect and means I cant use the 3.5mm Jacks but at least I can still use my headphones. This is the one I brought:

Some news (spoiler: it's bad news) from my side...

With some help of a friend of mine, I downloaded a new version of Windows 10 from the website of microsoft on a clean USB. In BIOS I booted the pc from the USB. Now, I installed a totally clean version of windows on one of my SSD. Result: all possibly conflicting drivers (like Nahimic) are gone and the drive was completely clean except for the new Windows installation.

After configurating, I updated the pc with the regular available Windows-updates and after a reboot, still no sounds from jacks. In a last try, I downloaded Realtek-drivers from the earlier called website (this one) but still no result after a reboot.

I'm really out of ideas. PC is completely clean and still no result. Extra weird is that since is posted this thread a couple of other users are facing the exact same problem (or a similar problem) too. I'm pretty fed up now...

Out of interest, what version number of windows 10 are you using?

Man I'm having the same issue on my X470 Gaming Plus motherboard. My optical Out is no longer working now. Bought a new Optical Cable thinking it was the issue and nope doesn't want to work.

My headset was working absolutely fine with a splitter on the front plugs and then all of a sudden it stopped. Doesn't work on the back either.

I have the X470 Gaming Plus Max, Gigabyte 5600 XT, AMD 4700X CPU and an NVME SDD and a HDD drive.

I have the Z906 Suround System that was hooked up via Optical cable and now it doesn't want to work. I checked if the system is faulty using the 3.5mm input and it works fine.

This is doing my head in that I just want to return the motherboard get my money and go for a different brand all together, this thing isn't even 2 months old -_-

yep, having the same issue here on a B450M PRO-VDH MAX, clean install of windows... the only audio outputs that are showing up are HDMI, I've tried every single driver imaginable.
its just my daily pc but I listen to music and podcasts, I will stoop to getting a usb headset output if I require it but everyone said I should buy AMD if I'm going Ryzen and I followed their advice, I feel like I was trolled even though I know their advice as sincere.
from what I can tell it seems to be ALC892 on both the x470 Gaming Plus Max and my board... so obviously its something funky going on with the board specs and the fact theres no real audio drivers for them

It seems to be a BIOS problem, as the Board Explorer says Audio Jack not connected.
Downloaded latest BIOS 7B84v4A and still no Audio

Sad, sad bump for this sad thread.

My specs are MSI B360 Gaming Plus, Core i7-8700, RTX 2060 with original Windows 11. I had to do a PC reset due to work (kept all my files), and all of a sudden, my headphones audio disappeared. Now it's just static. There's still audio through the speakers of my monitor, but that's extremely uncomfortable (Zoom calls, etc., you know the drill). What I've tried:

- Besides resetting Windows, I flashed the latest BIOS (at the time of this writing, it is 7B22v2D2(Beta version)
- I completely formatted the entire SSD where I had Windows (no success)
- I confirmed that my headphones work on other devices
- I confirmed that the issue occurs when plugging the headphones in the back of the PC and on the front
- There is a hiss when I put the headphones on. Changing the power profile of Windows made the hiss a bit more tolerable
- Windows clearly thinks that its sending audio to the headphones (see screenshot:

This sounds like an incomplete install of the audio driver and usually a pain to fix. If you get the latest driver from msi you have to install a program from Windows app store as well. Personally I avoid Nahimic 3 because its so bad. I use the realtek driver directly from Microsoft driver catalog, that doesn't have nahimic 3.

Yeh, but removing the old driver is harder than it should be. You have to tell windows not to update that driver, as it will do as soon as it boots without it.

https://www.catalog.update.microsoft.com/ Everything for the last 20 years is there, so dont get lost lol. Driver version numbers are a good way of doing it.

That's what my stack looks like, you could try the msi 6.0.1.8619 version and see if that takes. If not dive in to the catalog, beware though theres no installers, its just the driver packs.

This has given me more hope than I'd like to admit. I went through a deep rabbit hole of nuking Nahimic from my computer (to anyone who might be wondering how: please check out this indispensable Reddit thread about MSI motherboards + Nahimic: https://www.reddit.com/r/MSI_Gaming/comments/l45fnj ).

However, @laurence1211, all my attempts to install a driver pack from the Catalogue go nowhere. As I have never used .cab files before, I followed instructions from Puretechinfo (link here) who knows what he's talking about. But I'm hitting a wall.

Do you mind sharing your experience? It would be really helpful to read how exactly did you choose which driver pack to download?

Have I gone about this in a completely backwards manner? I'd really love to solve this silly issue and your insights make me feel like I'm quite close to it.

The Nahimic mirroring device is already present in Device Manager. I didn't know this was baked in to official MS Windows. :<

Needless to say, the issue persists: I have sound from my DELL monitor, but no sound from my headphones (which still work on other devices, but not on my desktop - neither plugged in at the back port, nor plugged in at the front port). This is extremely, extremely confusing.

P.S. After booting into Windows 11 for the first time, I had two Cumulative Updates and all this (which I am not installing right now):

Unless you go into group policy editor, windows will install all of that at some point anyway. Try doing the Intel stuff first and nvidia last.

Still if you can't get anything else working then deep it is. First I start with the driver number. With realtek newer is usually worse lol. Trial and error or taking suggestions from other people, who have had the same issues with that particular motherboard or sound chip. Then after selecting the version I sort by file size, you normally want mid size in the pack. (But trial and error, download more than one size.)

Next I click on the description on the left to see more info. I look for ones that fit best, not tied to a manufacturer. After selecting and downloading I install sorta. https://www.lifewire.com/how-to-update-drivers-in-windows-2619214 Gives you an idea of how sorta install works. You basically point windows to the drivers. Realtek drivers are a pain, and nahimic isn't even from Realtek either lol.

I'm just perplexed as to why a simple Windows 11 reinstall would completely nuke my otherwise working setup. Why would a fresh software installation come with broken out-of-the-box sound experience? Is this an MSI thing? Is this an MSI-adjacent thing with Realtek/Nahimic/whoever? It's really weird. In over +15 years of using Windows, this is the first time a fresh reinstall with the latest available OS results in a broken experience. D

Playing this whack-a-mole drivers game can be fun, but it really shouldn't be necessary to get a basic thing like sound off of headphones going.

If I ever get to randomly stumble upon an old working Realtek driver from the Microsoft Update Catalog, I will report my steps here for any poor souls who might find themselves in my situation later on (hopefully not). )

Its a windows 11 and realtek thing, realtek are cheap and lazy with software support and Microsoft fired their software testing team. I hope you get something working, either the older msi provided driver or one from Microsoft.
