NVDVD

Well, I have some questions about NVDVD

- Version 1.22 it's supposed to be just an update for version 1.0. OK, but I have downloaded it, and it runs perfectly as standalone with no previous 1.0 install. (v1.22: 3.5 MB, v1.0: 39.5 MB) :)

- I have seen a version 1.3 for download, but I have seen no reference of this supposed new version at any nvidia-fan website. Is it a fake? ?(

Any info about NVDVD will be wellcome

I am really brain-sick....

I am posting the question to my own answer... ?(

Well nvDVD 1.22 works as standalone as well as an update to v.1.0:

- Version 1.0 (wich is actually v. 1.17) is sooo big because it includes DirectX 8 for 2K/XP, NT and 9x, and all the dll's and help files to make locale languages available. 8)

- If you install v. 1.22 as a standalone, you will need the serial, if you update, you don't need it. :]

- No news about v. 1.3, nvNEWS is down due to a hack-attack, so my source of nVIDIA info is now dead. :(

- For curious people... take a look at www.filemirrors.com :evil:

The places to download nvDVD from are growing in number... www.filemirrors.com will give you some of them...

It works fine and smooth, but it still looks like a beta software somwhow...

Still waiting for a BIG update... what about version 2.0??

:D :D :D :D :D :D :D :D :D :D :D :D :D

thanks for the info man. is this thing supposed to be freeware or something? and where can i download it?

and since you have tried it, is it any better than PowerDVD and the rest of that software pack?

This question of price is a bit hard to talk about...

nvDVD isn't free, but you can't buy it. Funny, isn't it? But this isn't as funny as you could think. nVIDIA only sells this software to VGA makers, so they can include it in the bundled CDs. Nowadays, only eVGA adds nvDVD to the bundled pack of their VGAs. Most major vendors of nVIDIA VGAs still distribute "branded" versions of WinDVD, PowerDVD,... (vg. MSI uses WinDVD).

So, where are we?? We can't freely download it, and we can't buy it... so, how can we get this superB software? Easy: just go to www.filemirrors.com and make a search for "nvdvd". Both 1.0 and 1.22 versions works perfectly as stand alone, but if you want nvDVD speak your language (spanish, german, french, chinese,...) you should download 1.0, and then update it with 1.22.

But there is a "counter measure": you will need a serial number... There is an 1.22 pack at file mirrors that doesn't need serial... but I didn't told you this if police ask :D

As far as I have tested it, I feel so comfortable using it. Friendly UI, real 5.1 audio support, superB image quality, frame capture as JPEG, less CPU time use, one and only DVD player that uses 100% the hardware ICT and motion compensation features included on GF4MX.

Any other question??

Just downloaded nVDVD 1.71, and found some interesting things in it:

- nVDVD now supports DVD, VCD 1.0, VCD 1.1, VCD 2.0, MP3, CDA, MPEG and AC3. I have no VCD to test it, and I have found no way to make nVDVD play MP3s or CDA, so I can't tell you my experience.

- You know that nVDVD lets you grab frames, and record WAVs from DVDs... But this version allows you to record full scenes!!!!!!!!!. I have found that you only have to add a key to Windows registry. Cut next lines, paste them at notepad and save as whatever.reg. Run the reg file, and you're done:

Windows Registry Editor Version 5.00

[HKEY_CURRENT_USER\Software\NVIDIA Corporation\NVDVD]
"EnableSceneCapture"=dword:00000001

You will find now a new tab called "Scene capture" where you can record and play scenes!!

- There are some other tabs available, but I am still searching the way to enable them:

AC3DecoderDebugPage
AC3DecoderStatisticsPage
AC3DecoderPropertyPage
AudioDecoderDebugPage
AudioDecoderStatsPage
AudioDecoderPropertyPage
NavigatorDebugPropertyPage
NavigatorPropertyPage
VideoDecoderDebugPage
VideoDecoderDXVAPage
VideoDecoderControlPage
VideoDecoderStatsPage
VideoDecoderPropertyPage
VCD

Does anybody knows any tool that lets you track the calls to windows registry of a C++ dll or exe file?? Not talking about inverse engineering, just a debugger that shows the registry reads/writes. This way, lots of new tricks could be discovered. The scene capture feature have been found by reading the full hex of nvdvd.dll!! And I use ResourceHacker to discover hidden dialogs, tabs and controls in nVIDIA files.

Here comes the CoolDVDbits!!!

Using some reg monitoring, I have discovered the BIG tweak for nVDVD. I have posted to www.nvmax.com the previous reg file (read previous post), and its available there. I have also post this new tweak late night, so it will be available there today or tomorrow.

If you can't wait: just copy the next lines:

Windows Registry Editor Version 5.00

[HKEY_CURRENT_USER\Software\NVIDIA Corporation\NVDVD]
"EnableSceneCapture"=dword:00000001

[HKEY_LOCAL_MACHINE\SOFTWARE\Nvidia Corporation\Filters\Audio]
"EnablePropPage"=dword:00000001

[HKEY_LOCAL_MACHINE\SOFTWARE\Nvidia Corporation\Filters\Video]
"EnablePropPage"=dword:00000001

Open notepad, paste them, and save them as CoolDVDBits.reg. And run it!!!

Now a wide set of new tabs will be available at porperties dialog of nVDVD. Play with them and post some feedback!!!

I AM NOT GOING TO SEND ANY SERIAL KEY FOR NVDVD; SO, PLEASE, STOP ASKING FOR IT.

Sorry if I seem to be a bit rude, but...
