Hello I have got a problem trying to update Nvidia drivers on my new MSI GT683R (GeForce GTX 560M)

Basically the latest driver that it has is the 268 and I have downloaded the latest one, the 275.33 but when I try to install it on my computer it tells me that it doesn't find compatible hardware. What can I do?

Tano read my post regards this i have the same problem msi deny there is nothing wrong with the drivers...hmmm i  think not now there is 5 of us

I have the same problem.  I even downloaded the driver from the MSI website that tried to update it to 267.21 and it gave me the same "This graphics driver could not find compatible graphics hardware." error.  I also tried 275.33 and got the same error.

Did you try to install nVidia.com drivers before this happened?
If so, run driver cleaner first before installing the MSI drivers again.

eh I am sorry I don't understand, I haven't downloaded any driver from MSI, i just ran the driver CD that came with the laptop to install the graphics drivers, but they were the 268 version not the 275. Is it a good idea to uninstall all the drivers and try to install the 275.33? how can I do that?

By the way I need the serial number for registering the product and I thought that it was the one on the drivers CD but it is not since I have tried to register the product with than and it hasn't worked. Where can I find the serial number?

Registering in de EU is not needed as MSI gives warranty regardless if you registered before or not.
They see the manufacturing date and ask for your proof-of-purchase, it's based on that, registered or not.

Why are you messing with the drivers? Is there a problem of some kind?

Thanks for yur replies Bas.

I would like to download the latest drivers because there is a problem with the game The Witcher 2 on Nivida cards, something related to the 3D vision and it got fixed with drivers 275.33 which are the ones I have downloaded but cannot install because it tells me that it doesn't find compatible hardware.

Sorry for my English, I am from Spain xD

If you look at NVIDIA website for that drivers notebook compatibility you would see:

This driver will install on the following GPUs with the exception of some notebooks listed below:

.....
.....
Notes:

  1. Notebooks supporting Hybrid Power technology with Intel chipsets are not supported by this release.

You need to use the drivers MSI has for that notebook is the bottom line.

Yes, that would be great if the updated drivers on the MSI site would install correctly.  However, they do not.  That is the problem.

100% Agree.

The latest drivers that MSI provide are 268.12:

As for your query regarding The Witcher 2 and 275.33 drivers, see:

The Release 275 beta driver v275.27 can cause significant performance drop in The Witcher 2. This issue has been resolved in v275.33 drivers. Please read this FAQ for more information on this issue.

A drop in performance with the game The Witcher 2 may be observed if the user has ever completed the NVIDIA 3D Vision Wizard, and persists even after disabling 3D Vision through the NVIDIA Control Panel. The apparent cause is that the game uses an incorrect API to check whether 3D Vision is activated with each frame.

So if you have never used those Beta drivers, and have never activated 3D Vision, then you won't have an issue anyway.

Thanks for your answers, I think that I will not play in 3D in order to get rid of all the performance problems

Also, keep an eye on the game developer's website, as they are working with Nvidia on a patch for the game to resolve this.
