Originally the video card were working however suspect a Microsoft Update killed the Nvidia Card - Could see the video card listed (somehow a 970M listed as hidden devices) in Device Manager however both reported as "Currently hardware device is not connected to computer (Code 45)". I tried to roll back the drivers but no help. Removed the Nvidia cards and downloaded drivers from the MSI website and tried to install - reported that "Graphics driver could not find compatible hardware". Also downloaded driver from Nvidia website but same error, and tried the autodetect feature but cannot find compatible hardware. Then I flashed the BIOS to the latest version but still no changes the problem persists.

Anther problem: as soon as I turn on the laptop the GPU fan goes straight up to 5700RPM and I assure you this this at stable
40 to 45  degree temperatures the laptop doesn't even feel warm to the touch.

I would appreciate any advice before the final step of factory reset.
Laptop has been dope otherwise - just the Nvidia card is doing my head in.
I have been using the laptop for about a year now with no problems.

I will also export my system info from MSI helpdesk please find it and a screenshot  attached.

Don?t use graphic card come with cd or from MSI , you must go to NVIDIA website and download or you can down  here :

http://es.download.nvidia.com/GFE/GFEClient/3.3.0.100/GeForce_Experience_v3.3.0.100.exe

Down from here NVIDIA Experience and from this you can install all , driver , etc without problem , regards

Tried a system recovery is till doesn't work I think it might be a hardware issue but sometimes the GPU is detected by
my laptop and I can install Nvdia drivers then it disappears again and I get a message in device manager

"Currently, this hardware device is not connected to the computer. (Code 45)
To fix this problem, reconnect this hardware device to the computer."

Isn't the GPU attached to the motherboard if so how is it disconnected?

I think the soldering on the GPU has cracked from time to time the device shows up in device manager but doesn't actually work since I'm out of warranty I'll try reballing the gpu then I'll contact MSI to get a new motherboard if it doesn't work.

Apologies if this sounds stupid but I am only new to my MSI and am having similar problems with selection of GPUs.

Did you press the second button on the notebook (the one below the power button) that allows you to switch between the NVIDIA GPU and the Intel GPU?
Maybe its just turned off.

Hi will,

What kind of notebook do you have? Not every gaming has the same design. Most of GE, GP, GL series is NVIDIA Optimus platform. Those MSI notebooks will switch Intel/Nvidia GPU by VGA driver settings.

My notebook is a GT72 6QD DOMINATOR G.
It seems that my laptop can only be switched manually.
See my recent post

and the reply for more details.

For special/newest applications/games, you just add them to list once. Then, the switching of GPU could work as your settings.
