i installed new 64g ram insteadbut it won't run at 3200hz
I went to the bios and turned on xmp in the advanced menu
computer won't work at all, had to reset the bios inorder to have the laptop working again.
how do I make the ram run at 3200hz please?

this not must work or you need GEAR2 "but this is slower !"
some RAMs is not ideal for 3200MHZ "CPU // memory controller limit"

or need OC skill
VCCSA .,.VCCIO2 and RAM voltage
XMP - RAM 1.35V
.,,.or most time SINGLE RANK memory is more easy for OC / more modules

if you have the option to return these modules ?? try find seba84_2005 post "he has same notebook + XMP"
try this compatible modules / MSI

I use 64gb of these and they work perfect at 3200Mhz GEAR1 and 1T after i set a custom profile in bios.
Kingston Fury KF432S20IBK2/64

Never use XMP with laptops.

I know those are 3200 ideal ram and I looked at older videos and such on how to do, but couldn't find something from the new line of laptops

Change the timings to less aggressive, like between CL19 to CL22.

Advanced BIOS, RIGHT SHIFT+RIGHT CTRL+LEFT ALT+F2

They may work if you enter advance bios and choose memory-custom profile and enter 133x24 cl 16 and voltage 1.35v, memory training will fix the rest.

well, right now I have a presentation deadline, can't really risk laptop not working, I might try it afterwards.

For me crucial xmp it only works when i turn on cpu overclocking menu. You dont't need change anything in this menu. Just enable then go back to memory settings and use xmp 1 profile.

no, it support 64, and it suppose to support 3200 as well.
64GB at 3200 is NOT guaranteed (by Intel).
As genereal rule: more memory you have, lower speed you get.
Yes, for certain CPU/DDR4 samples might work stable at 3200, but it's not guaranteed for everyone.
Does it work stable with 64GB at 2133 in your case?
If yes, did you try at 2666 and 2933?

32GB (2x16GB) memory is another story and 3200 is not a very difficult task for the CPU IMC.
But 64GB (2x32GB) puts a lot of stress on the CPU IMC.
All the current 32GB modules are dual-rank and that means a speed penalty of 266MHz (at least).

https://ark.intel.com/content/www/u...1800h-processor-24m-cache-up-to-4-60-ghz.html
Memory Types : Up to 3200 MT/s
That "up to 3200" means 3200 is not guaranteed in any conditions.
If you click on that (?) button you will get this info:
" Maximum supported memory speed may be lower when populating multiple DIMMs per channel on products that support multiple memory channels."
That means a speed penalty in case of dual-rank modules or in case of 2 or 4 modules per channel.

Anyway, if you can boot up with 64GB at 3200, but it's not stable and you don't want to run them at 2933 or 2666, you have 2 options:
- raise the voltage a little bit (but no more than 1.40V)
- relax the timings (from CL16 to CL18 or CL20)
