What about returning it to the seller? Amazon usually gives 30 day no questions asked returns. I would tell them it does not work now, period. Get sent a new one and Amazon can deal with MSI.

After talking to MSI through the ticket system, they suggested either to send it to their service centre and get it examined, which would take 48hrs + 10-15 days, max 21 days excluding transit time. Or if I preferred, to check with Amazon to see if a replacement is possible. I talked to Amazon's customer support and got a replacement sorted and I'm sending back the monitor to their returns address. This seems to be a lot quicker, but not sure what the chances of it being accepted are. Probably likely, given they have already started a free of charge replacement order. I'll update here what happens next.
If the new monitor still has old firmware, I'll probably just have to stick with it as its not worth using MSI's self bricking software.
I wanted to make a replacement on amazon but unfortunately it no longer had stock, so at the end i send it to RMA MSI yesterday 24/05/2022, and just today 25/05/2022 they said to me that the problem is solved and they will send it and maybe will arive in 1 or 2 days.

Wow, that's quick. Did you have to pay for postage or repairs? Update us when you get it back, like is it the newest FW version etc.

How the hell is MSI determining who gets QUICK turnaround and who doesn't?
First they wanted to charge me for sending it in, I had to push back, then they "comped/waived" the shipping, yet I have read here most everyone got nextday shippings for sending WITH PICK UP service? WTH?
Why did a get different treatment over others?
This is not a good look LAST EVER MSI product and contrary to most i really do mean it when i say i will never buy again, i know you don't care and I'm just a speck of sand in your world, but yeah i should have went with the Gigabyte which was the recommended one over this one, lesson learned..

MSI doesnt determine anything. Just one guy is in EU and has to send it to central repair service in Poland, and another lives in the US where they have like two service centres... Much depends on the product itself and complexity of the problem. Could be that for this specific issue they have one old guy flashing firmware for all bricked monitors, and for anything else they need more time to investigate the problem. Ain't as simple as it sounds :)

The monitor arrived to me on 26/05/2022 with a note inside the box that says "THE UNIT FIRMWARE IS UPDATED AND THE PROBLEM IS SOLVED" i don't what they had to do to solve the problem but the monitor comes with the FW 0.16 and after testing the monitor 1 day everything is fine and works without any problem.

It just stayed 1 day on the MSI RMA and they solved it.

Interesting, FW 0.16 is the firmware I got on both monitors, old and replacement. But the latest is 0.20 I believe? Does anyone know what the latest recommended FW version is? Is 0.20 bugged?
A question to the experts, It isn't mentioned in the manual I used, but I had a USB Wireless dongle plugged into the hub while doing the firmware update, would that affect the update?

Could be bad. I suppose they use whatever is stable. I'll take a look and have a chat on it.
As for the hub, it is best to follow instructions to every word.

I'm not going to hate on you, so congrats on getting so quick.
Yet here i am still waiting, no news or info from MSI not even an e-mail, mine went out on 25/05/2022.

I know by being a mod you already have a bias, still no excuse i live in the US and still today not a WORD, no e-mail, no call, no text, no status update all i know is they received it. what would you call that lack of professionalism?

Stop defending something that can't be, MSI not only they cause the problem by developing and NOT TESTING the update, then they release it, but not only that even now that we know it is bricking the monitors MSI keeps allowing the DL of such HARMFUL update, at the customers expense and time. no need to investigate so stop! even makes it worse when someone else has to make up excuses for them....
PS: with the amount of money they make they can afford to hire more than 1 old guy for EU and 2 in the US just saying,
Still no excuses they can and should be better then this, you honestly think if this made it on linus, steve or similars channels this would still be happening? ...exactly

Of course things could be better, but we have no authority to make any kind of changes. We do our best to help other users, and that's all we can. We brought this issue to our contact's attention and we hope it's being tested, and FW pulled off if it's bad.

Other than leaving stuff plugged into the hub, I did follow the instructions to the word. If you need to unplug everything for it to work, it really should explicitly say in the manual to unplug everything. Could you ask to get this tested?

What hub is it? It may also make a difference on the brand of the hub, sometimes even down to a specific model. Sounds odd, but I've seen HDMI cable cause BSOD that didn't sound related to GPU at all lol.
Yes, I think instruction should say so if it could be a danger to failure of flash.

By hub, I mean the hub that is built into the monitor. It has 2 USB A ports and 1 USB C. I was using one of the A ports at the time. So to clarify, the things plugged into the monitor were the power barrel plug, display port, USB B 3.0 that's provided with the monitor and a USB A device that's plugged into the hub.

Hi again, I wanted to update my situation with the monitor after a week of use, the monitor is giving me some problems, the problem I have is that every time I start the PC some strange horizontal lines begin to appear on the monitor that remain for a few seconds and then they go away, I'm not liking the experience of seeing that every time I turn on the PC, so I've processed a replacement on amazon since there was finally stock..

Sounds like the right move, hope the new one works great. Can be frustrating.

I'm guessing no-one's found a fix for this?
Just got 2 of the Optix MPG321QRF-QD, updated one, now it just flashes the MSI logo twice and won't stay on.
Amazon have no stock of it left and so they won't replace it for me until they do.
