The German forum appears to be undergoing an upgrade of the Forum software.  I'm running the GD65 with BIOS 1.8 and cannot get MemTest86+ to be stable with my G.Skill ECO DDR3-1333 2x2GB 7-7-7-21 @ 1.35V (rated settings, not overclocked).  MemTest86+ gives thousands of errors within 30 seconds running at the rated settings.  If I drop down to 9-9-9-24, it works fine for 10+ hours.

I'd appreciate it if someone could point me to BIOS Beta 1.82 (mentioned on another forum) since it sounds like it could fix my problem.

Thanks!

Amazing.  :shocked_anim: I opened a support request with MSI and within 5 minutes they had attached the v1.89 BIOS to my ticket.

Thanks for the pointer.

btw. the 1.8B2 and 1.8B9 are Beta stage versions from the 1.8 Final and the final Bios should have all fixes in it.

Are you saying that the 1.89 version is older than the 1.80 release?  I don't think that's true.

The 1.8 release filename is A7583IMS.180 and the latest beta is A7583IMS.189 which would imply it's newer.

Also, why would tech support give me the beta when I'm already running the 1.80 release?

Uuups, I overlooked the fact that you were already using v1.8.  Of course, anDrasch is correct.  v1.8b9 means:  9th BETA Release of the v1.8x BIOS Series which ends with the v1.8 final release (v.18(0)).  The first BETA Release after the v1.8 final release will be called v1.9b1 (first release of the v1.9x series, that will eventually result in a v1.9 final release.  It is always like that (common MSI Naming rule).

Also, why would tech support give me the beta when I'm already running the 1.80 release?

Why shouldn't they, if you ask for it?

These are the MSI Bios Development rules. First of a newer Version is in this case 1.8B1 then following 1.8B2 and so on.
When the Development of a Bios is closed is the Release Version 1.80 aka V1.8.
You can see it when you use CPU-Z in Tab Mainbord > Bios > Date

Have you pointed that you use already 1.8 or you'd ask for a Beta?
Why they give you a Beta i have no clue, maybe 1.8B9 is on final stage.

Interesting.  I said I was running 1.80 and asked about a beta which had been mentioned on the forums.

I'm running my G.Skill ECO RAM without overclocking.  The RAM is supposedly rated at 7-7-7-21 with 1.35V.  BIOS 1.7 would not allow this XMP profile, but BIOS 1.8 would.  However, BIOS 1.7 and 1.8 fail to run MemTest86+ without thousands of errors.

If I back down to the 9-9-9-24 timing, MemTest86+ is stable for 10+ hours.  Very strange to me.

First try to fix the values for your RAM in Cell Menu manualy for each RAM Bank, also the DRAM Voltage.
By no success you could try to increase the Refresh Cycle Time(tRFC)value.
When it doesn't help increase the DRAM Voltage in little steps.

Alright, I'll try that.  MSI confirmed the v1.80 BIOS is newer than the 1.89 beta.  They also quoted the manual when it comes to 1.35V DDR3 saying only 1.5V DDR3 is supported.

I'll also get out the Fluke voltmeter and test the actual voltages on the board vs. BIOS settings.
