I have Win7 64 bit and when I sut up my system on my MSI p55-GD80 sleep worked fine.  I had S3 mode enabled, and the computer would sleep, and wake up like a charm.

Now, after I flashed the BIOS to 1.50, I am seeing a different behavior.  The computer goes to sleep just fine.  But then it wakes fromthe POST screen.  Initializing USB and all that stuff.  I cannot find any settings that were changed.

Any tips?

TIA
Steve

In S3 Menue set
- Awake by keyboard @ any key
- Other Awake settings @ disabled
Crazy behavior still there ?
Then try latest beta .171 http://msi-forum.de/index.php?page=Thread&postID=726215#post726215

Tried the beta...still having the issue with Win7 64 bit.  Computer enters S3 sleep just fine but resuming from S3 starts all the way from POST.  I dont need to log back in and everything is as it was when it entered sleep, but that is the behavior it used to do.  Resume from S3 sleep using BIOS 1.4 (and every other computer I've used) does not start from POST.

Thanks in advance for any tips.

I have the same problem with Win7 64 bit. I think MSI don't check the sleeping behavior since BIOS 1.3. 1.4 and 1.5 have awful S3 sleeping mode. I hope the 1.6 BIOS come and the problem will resolve.

1. First download latest beta  .172
http://msi-forum.de/index.php?page=Thread&postID=726215#post726215

2. Is the crazy behavior @ default settings or @ OC ?

3. Exists the problem without any USB stuff and without other plugged hardware ?

4. What kind of RAM type ? Can you post a CPUZ screen with your memory type ?  :)

5. Next step:
Check your RAM and System with LINX 0.64. Push only the button  MEMORY ALL,set 40 runs and start the program.
System must work fine with 40 runs ! Program is for both - RAM/CPU with memorycontroller .
If LINX is running for 1 h without any error, your sytem is stable.
If not, you` ve a hardware problem( mostly RAM) or setting fault in bios, or to high temperature @ CPU and case .

Linx download and Operating instructions ->

Google our friend :) says :
or its a WIN7 problem @ S3 if WINXP works proper

Biker,

I appreciate the input but if it worked fine with 1.4 and previous versions than wouldn't that lead you to believe it is a BIOS issue and not a Win7 issue?  I mean that is the only thing that changed in my system.

Anyways, I tried the latest beta build and the S3 behavior works fine now!  Whatever fix they are trying out works!
