Hi

My P55-GD85 don't start (No BIOS screens, only fans running few seconds, shutting down, fans running few seconds, shutting down...)

My hardware is

msi P55 GD85 (Tested bios 1.4 and 1.6)
video card : MSI 460GTX 1GB OC + Gigabyte 285GTX 1GB sli (460 main 285 physx)
ram : 2x4GB XMP 1600MHZ
ram info : KHX1600C9D3K2/8GX
9905403 - 198.A00LF
000005244025
7DL8V-Y9BCPK-PWHL6
1.65V
hard drive : 3x 150 gb WD veloci raptor

What i tried : CMOS
Updating bios from 1.4 to 1.6
Starting the computer with only one ramstick on DIMM 1 (DIMM0 for intel)
Check if the motherboard is suposed to accept it (It does, ramstick not higher than 4gb, total memory allowed 16gb)
Starting the computer with a :censored: no name DDR3 on DIMM 1 + one stick from the KHX1600C9D3K2/8GX : The bios and system boot, but i want the computer running with the whole kit on dual channel
MEMtest86 with :censored: ram stick on DIMM 1 + one stick from the KHX1600C9D3K2/8GX : No errors for the first KHX1600C9D3K2/8GX, doing tests forthe second right now

doing tests forthe second right now

Well, keep us posted on the test result.

----------------------------

In case problems persist, start with a working memory configuration and make sure the frequency is manually set to DDR3-1333, the Command Rate to 2T and the voltage to 1.6V.

If that won't work either, try different memory modules.  The memory controller is in the CPU, not the onboard.

Second ramstick no errors 3 hours test at 1333

@jack : does it mean it will never work ? Weird thing is if merged with an other ram stick it works; but the kit itself alone don't, it's a dual channel kit, the i7 870 is suposed to work with dual channel ram

edit : okay, checking for 1.6, but the kit is suposed to work under 1.65v according Kingston
edit2 :  1.6v not working

Got  KHX1600C8D3K4/8GX working on the computer at 1610Mhz (memory speed ratio 5, cpu 161 / 22)

But the KHX1600C9D3K2/8GX still doesn't work at default clock

With the KHX1600C9D3K2/8GX, the BIOS loading screen doesn't appear at all, without the BIOS i was not able to change it to something else than 1333, so it was tested at 1333
