I got it two days ago, and it just wouldn't boot while Steelseries Xai mouse is connected. Before the bios screen, while those numbers appear at the lower right corner of the screen, it would just hang at "B4" and do nothing. As soon as I disconnect the device it continues booting. It's a real hassle disconnecting and connecting it after boot. I also flashed bios to 1.7 hoping it would fix it, but no improvement at all.

Is there a way to make it "boot" earlier?
Probably not without a BIOS engineer providing a custom BIOS. Have you tried that beta BIOS I linked? It would also be helpful to create a signature in your profile consisting of all your systems components.

Hi,
@Hu16E as i said on another post somewhere this is not my topic\post..... i have a different board... here's my link to my post https://forum-en.msi.com/index.php?topic=147690.0... but thanks anyway mate :) as i said i'm keeping the mouse as it is, with this kind of "fix"...not happy about it, but it's the only way i can get this mouse to work, and not "destroying" usb ports on the motherboard.....

i have a question.... is this "freezing" time before it completely loads windows 7, do some kind of damage to hardware\motherboard or even windows? sorry for this noob question or even stupid question but i don't want to damage my brande new pc\motherboard......

Thanks,

Hi,

@HU16E: I flashed the new BIOS E7673IMS.1A0 according to your link. Result is that it now stucks in "98" (step before "B4"). Am i right that the mouse improvements are made in this version cause the post of jack says...In addition to that, there have been a few further BETA Releases since E7673IMS.1A2 [to be precise: E7673IMS.1A3, .1A4, .1A5 and .1A6] on the way to the E7673IMS.1A0-Final-Release..

so the improvements are in version 1A0, aren't they? Or do i have to change settings in the bios cause changelog says "Improve mouse compatibility in bios setup menu." ?

E7673IMS.1A0-Final-Release..
This final release will encompass everything from previous releases.

Or do i have to change settings in the bios cause changelog says "Improve mouse compatibility in bios setup menu." ?
As far as I know, it is all handled at bootup in the BIOS initialization.

@ belph, i have the same problem as you.... it hangs on 98 just before it got stuck on B4 code...lets hope there's a new updade.... (i have the latest bios btw)... or you can buy an pci usb card as i did...don't fix the problem, because it freezes just before win7 totally loads but it only does for about 15\20 secs max.

Thanks,

yes, let's wait for the next update. Anyway i appreciate that something's going on and i'm confident so far msi will fix the problem (with or without steelseries)

Hi

fyi: just started my pc (without mouse ;) ) with the new Bios and hung as the desktop appeared with noise from my soundcard (sry, didn't post it earlier: x-fi xtreme gamer). could not reset with reset button, had to turn it off and on again. Now everything seems to be fine again.

hi,

finally to finish the unplug/plg-story i bought a new mouse (G500) two days ago. Now everything works fine.
but additionally i discovered a new device causing a similar problem like the xai: a wacom bamboo grafic tablet. only fyi.

but now i got another smaller problem: yesterday i ran the memtest from the stick i used to flash the new bios and got stuck. i wondered that the timings set by "optimized defaults" were set to 9-9-9-24 instead of 7-7-7-21 (GSkill F3-10666CL7D-8GBRH). so i looked for the place in the bios to set these values and found about 20 more values that can be adjusted but i do not know what else and to what value i have to change. does anybody got these parameters cause the gskill.com-site is down.

belph

p.s.:
sry, i meant about 10 not 20 values :/
i changed only the know 4 values (7-7-7-21) and the DRAM voltage (1,502V). the memtest from the stick failed test #8 but the memorytest from the biosmenu passed (i think that's an "easy" one). now i booted to windows and i'm going to run a test here.

You should test memory each stick 1 at a time. Sure it's going to take some time but how will you know which stick is bad otherwise?
