Hello there,

I have the P67A-GD65 (B3) mobo, with an i2500K at 4.5g, cooled with an AC Freezer Pro Rev 2.

Under Prime95, the temps are up to 74deg, which would probably be ok, but I'd like to get these temps down, especially with Summer on the way and as the Freezer isn't exactly high end, I'd like some advice as to coolers that fit the mobo.

I did get a second hand Titan Fenrir, but the bracket hits the "Military Class" SFC unit (sorry, I'm not sure as to what this is), so I can't use that.

My case will take a cooler up to 163mm and I'm using Corsair XMS3 PC3-12900C9, so I don't think these will cause any problems.

Thanks for your help.

I have the same mobo in a Coolermaster Haf 912 Black Mid Tower ATX Case. I'm using a Noctua NH-C12P SE14 LGA775/1155/1156/1366/AM3 I7/I5/PHENOM Heatpipe Cooler W/ NF-P14 140MM fan. Only issue I have is it barely clears one of my RAM sticks but otherwise ok.

You could give the Be Quiet! Dark Rock Advanced HSF a go. Looks like it will fit your board: http://www.bit-tech.net/hardware/cooling/2011/03/18/be-quiet-dark-rock-advanced/1

I've not used one, so don't really know. Checking reviews is your best bet. I mention the Be Quiet! Dark Rock Advanced HSF because I saw it performed well in Custom PC magazine's review of HSFs for the 1155 platform and looks to fit your motherboard.

I am using a Scythe Ninja 3 for the same configuration (MB + CPU). It fits perfectly and it is dead silent.

I have the Be Quiet Dark Rock Pro Dual on this board. I run 4.7 @1.305 v and prime95/intelburntest etc never see temps above 56oC even when running 24hrs. I used Artic silver 5. One thing I noticed was that the  longer the time since I installed the HSF, the lower my temps have become approx 3-5 oC. I was told this is because the paste has 'cured' and now working more effectively

I decided on the Corsair H50, but now my Elite 430 case is too small, with the rad hitting the LAN port on the mobo and the top protruding too far for the side panel to fit, so my search continues.

I need an air cooler no bigger than 163mm max for the case, unfortunately the BeQuiet is too tall, I could turn the overclock down or just stick with my Freezer Pro Rev 2 and temps in the low 70's under Prime 95.

Prob to tight would be the Thermaltake Frio (165mm), could look at Cooler Master Hyper 212 or Zalman CNPS11X Extreme 135x80x154 (and old standards 95,97,9900 model lines)

I use the FRIO - Need to install the Ripjaws RAM before the FRIO though to use the blue slots as the heatsinks are fairly high, so I now use the black slots. There is a very very small performance hit using them, but less than between 1866MHZ and 2133MHZ RAM operation.

I've used the CM 212+ on that MB w/2500K and it worked pretty good. I don't use RAM with tall heatsinks though. Even if the fan on it is over the 1st DIMM slot the fan comes off easy enough without needing to remove entire HSF assembly to remove/replace RAM sticks.

After some research, I found that people have been installing the rad on it's side, so I gave that ago and it's all in and working very well.

My temps have gone from 74 to 54 using Prime 95, so am well happy and can now try to throw some more voltage through the chip. ;D

The weather has gone up a bit in England and the H50 is now giving me a top temp of 72 after only three minutes of Prime95, so it would probably get to mid-late 70's after a few hours.

I can get a Silver Arrow for ?50, which is a great price over here, but can anyone confirm that it will fit the P67A-GD65, if it can, I'll sell the Corsair and get one.

The Arctic Cooling Freezer 13 should give you excellent results, and its an excellent price.

Could take a look at the Zalman CNPS5X, picked it up for my shop (testing) and put it in a new rig (see sig) and it's staying there, my Frio will sit in the shop, this is day 4 for the rig, and it's maintaing low 30s at 4.87 GHz

I've got a CoolerMaster 212+, and I have great results. I have an i5-2500K @ 4.2ghz turbo boost on all 4 cores (no voltage increase, base clock changes), and on Prime 95, I never get any temps on the board past 60c on a 4+ hr test. I am using a NZXT Phantom case though, which has 4 fans, 2 of which exhaust air straight from the HSF area out the top and back. I def ran into contact issues with the fan and ram (HSF oriented vertically), but I simply moved the fan up on the HSF a bit. The top clips just barely grab the HSF, but it's more than enough to hold it in place.

Thanks for the suggestions, but I don't think they'd be an improvement over the H50, so I'd be better off going for the top end Silver Arrow.

All I want to know, is if the SA will fit the mobo, clearing the SFC component.

Just in case anyone else wants to try the Silver Arrow with this case/mobo, it fits the mobo fine, plenty of clearance, but the only way it would fit in the case, is if the exhaust fan(s) were removed, which is a non starter for me, so I'm returning it and sticking with the H50, which is only topping out at 64 load, with an ambient temp of 19c, so not that bad really.
