I had this all together about 7 hours ago. It will boot to bios. It would not boot to any drive including a thumb drive, a usb hdd, the cd/dvd drive or the hdds. I started reading...

As you can see from above, I bought two cyclone 450gts'. I run three monitors and a fourth at times. I also just so happen to have a Logitech G15 keyboard. So, I read through pages and pages of post here picking up tidbits here and tidbits there. This is where I am right now.

I have determined that the system will not boot with both video cards in and with the sli bridge connected and three monitors connected, with or without the G15 connected. I have learned that the system will boot with a single video card in the lower express slots. I haven't tried it with just one in the upper slots nor with the one that is out at the moment in by itself.

I need some resolve on this as I must run the dual cards, although I could do away with my keyboard, but all of a sudden my disappointment level has risen substantially. I'm sorry, but I am very frustrated at the moment and needed to have this up and running by the A.M. for business tomorrow. I bought based on high ratings... I have to wonder if anyone tested these two 'msi' cards in this 'msi' main board? The whole reason I bought msi vid cards.

Any help to get this all running would be vastly appreciated.

What UEFI Version did the board come with/are you currently using?

I have learned that the system will boot with a single video card in the lower express slots. I haven't tried it with just one in the upper slots nor with the one that is out at the moment in by itself.

Without a reference point, it is impossible to know what you mean by "lower" and "upper" slot?  Can you please clarify this point?

Thanks for the quick reply Jack!

OK, not positive about the term UEFI, but I assume bios version? It is E7681IMS V1.11 with a build date of 4/20/11. I'm still bumbling about a bit in the new interface. I disabled earlier, EuP 2013 based on another post and didn't fix the dual problem.

The vid card is in the Express 16 slot fartherest from the CPU/Processor.

Actually, I just found the UEFI, but don't know where to look to get a version. No numbers on the screen when I go F11 into I suppose this interface. I'm lost.

Yes, let's say UEFI is now what used to be the BIOS.  I should have written UEFI/BIOS Version, to point out the functional equivalence.

It is E7681IMS V1.11 with a build date of 4/20/11.

Okay, that is exactly what I wanted to know.

I just found the UEFI, but don't know where to look to get a version. No numbers on the screen when I go F11 into I suppose this interface.

F11 usually brings you to the UEFI/BIOS Boot Menu, which allows you to directly point to the drive you want to boot from without messing with the boot order in UEFI/BIOS Setup.

The vid card is in the Express 16 slot fartherest from the CPU/Processor.

Alright.  I think the first things we need to establish are the following:

- Are both PCI-Express slots fully functional?
- Are both video cards fully functional?

We already know, that the secondary PCI-Express slot is working and on of your cards as well.  Please test each card individually in the primary ("upper") PCI-Express slot and report your findings.  Then we will go on from there.

I went into the shell and have EFI shell version 2.00 [4.640]

The (U)EFI shell version is yet a different thing than the actual UEFI/BIOS Version (the shell is just a part of it) and the boot menu.  It shall not concern us at the moment.

OK, I'm back to nearly where I was when this started, except I can boot now! I have swapped slots, swapped the two pci-e power sources and added the bridge. I can boot. The only difference now is the cards are swapped from what they were. I had double and triple checked the seating. In spite of the nice plastic covers on the card tabs, I suppose their must have been some oil in the slot.

The G15 being the other trouble... haven't tried that again but I will and report back... made this very hard to troubleshoot.

I'll get the third monitor online, test... then the keyboard... test and report back in a few minutes.

Thanks.

And then there is the one thing I didn't mention...

OK... I have everything back just like it was at the start with one exception. If I plug in a Logitech Marble PS2 mouse and the G15 keyboard, it makes it through the mil class splash screen and hangs at a flashing cursor just like it was doing from the start.

At the moment, both vid cards are in, the G15 is connected and a Logitech Marble USB mouse and all is good. Throw in the Logitech PS2 mouse, and it is toast. Who would ever have figured? A PS2 mouse.

I think I'm good now, except I need another mouse around here now. I have only just the base win7 install done... I'll start with drivers and if there is anything else that shows up, I'll let you know.

For other out there, at least think about a PS2 mouse as a problem. For sure this one. I think I have another one around here just like it. I'll try that one too.

That is part of the reason I asked for your current UEFI/BIOS Version:

It is E7681IMS V1.11 with a build date of 4/20/11.

There have been quite a few mouse/keyboard related fixes since UEFI/BIOS Version v1.11 [=E7681IMS.1B0]. I have summarized the complete changelog for UEFI/BIOS Version E7681IMS.1C0 [v1.12] here:
