I was able to resolve the resume from sleep issue on my system. I was able to piece it together from threads on this board so I thought I'd share. Understood that the underlying cause will vary greatly for other systems but maybe this will help you. Here's my system:
P67A-GD65
i7 2600k
8GB Corsair Vengeance 8CAS 1600MHz memory
Crucial C300 256GB SSD - connected to the Marvell controller
(4) 250GB WD Caviar - connected to Intel controller RAID 5
GTX 580
Win 7 64
1.B BIOS
I have pretty much all of BIOS set with default settings. All power saving options turned on except EuP 2013 was disabled. Default CPU settings except bumped turbo to 42 (4.2GHz). No voltage changes. CPUz verified that overclock worked when apps needed the horsepower. Had the memory set to auto except bumped up the DRAM frequency to 1600MHz as that is what the memory is specified for. Bios recognized the 1600MHz 8-8-8-24 mem as 1333 9-9-9-35 - I figured a little slower clock would be OK and planned to get back around to dialing it in when everything was stable.
Ran Prime 95 - no issues. Memtest in BIOS passed. Seemed to work fine with hours of game play except random lockups in Civ 5 which accompanied an audio crackling. The real annoying issue was when the system was left idle for more than 20 minutes the USB keyboard, mouse and monitor would power down and nothing would work to resume. Holding the power button down would not cause it to shut down but it would restart and if I tried to shut it down before bios finished it would continuously restart.
I thought it was a sleep issue as manually forcing sleep caused exactly the same symptoms. USB devices (keys, mouse) would all power down but nothing would get it to resume. Even set USB device resume in BIOS and adv power settings in Win 7. Still happened. Every time it rebooted after this the windows screen would come up saying it did not power down correctly and asked the restart options. I even turned off sleep altogether in Win 7 and it still would power down into an apparant sleep state after being idle.
I noticed a number of references to memory, which controller to have your SSD connected to (Intel vs Marvell) and various references to voltage settings. I started with the memory (thus leaving the SSD on the Marvell and apparantly ruling that and voltages out as causes.)
It was resolved by enabling the XMP memory setting in bios and changing everything else memory related to auto. The next reboot BIOS recognized the memory for its high end factory ratings: 1600MHz 8-8-8-24 timings. And even though the timings were even tighter this proved to be more stable. And faster
. Sleep works just fine now. No random lock ups, no audio crackling, USB devices don't power down unto death and no issue with power down/restarts. Maybe this will work for you! G/L
