P67A-GD65 still freezing up

Well I've tried every suggestion and supposed fix (ram timings, etc.) for the feezing up problem to no avail.  I still get a total system freeze at least once a day which then requires a manual restart of the PC.  Kind of sucks.

Even with everything set to stock unmolested config with no overclocking it still occurs.

Any other ideas?

yeah i got a simelar spec and i have been messing with ram timmings and cstate ect ect ect
nothings working as you say!

im just waiting on a bios update that helps it out, even tho my rams manafactures website say that the board should be working!

unless its not a ram problem at all?

If so many people are having the same problem with varieties of configurations and various brands of RAM, then that tells me it's something deeper than just blaming the RAM.  I hope somebody steps up and figures out what is really going on here.

Right beta bios didnt work, still crashed, this is becoming a joke, i dont want to be send items back dont even know if i have the original packaging.

Some of the RAM SPD is off from JEDEC so it is hard to guess what gets set at default now days. CPU-Z should help with telling that once in Windows. If you set up RAM speed 1333, 9 9 9 24, tRFC 74-88 @ 1.50v's & it doesn't work, I would try another RAM kit.

Same damn problems here.  No overclocking, just trying to get a stable system.  Boots up, install Win7 and all the drivers in proper order without errors.

I7 2600k SandyBridge 3.4Ghz
G.SKILL F3-14900CL9D-8GBXL  (2 x 4GB sticks in slot 1 and 3)
Nvidia GeForce GTX 460
two WD Black sata III 1TB drives in a RAID0 in sata ports 1 and 2  (SATA 6Gb)
two WD Green sata II 1TB drives in a RAID0 in sata ports 3 and 4  (SATA 3Gb)
one WD Black sata III 1TB drive in sata port 5 (system resides on this non raid drive)
Bluray drives in sata ports 6 and 7
Corsair 750W 80 PLUS Power supply

Then go to another machine and RDP to it, no problems.  Wait about an hour, RDP and you get "Welcome" and it just hangs.

So if I go to the console, it tells me someone else is trying to login, but no drive activity at all, and won't let me do anything and I have to hard power off.

If I'm at the machine, just doing different "normal" things, browser windows lockup, applications lockup, all requiring a hard shutdown by the button since I can't select the option to reboot normally.  No BSOD's, no OC, the OC Genie is OFF

My memory is even certified for this damn board!  But in "auto"  doesn't even get the memory timings correct.

I'm Going nutz trying to figure out what the f--k is going on.  I even ran the on board memory test and it passed.

I'm thinking that quality control on this production line is crap.  I've seen a ton of complaints of BSOD's, rebot loops, and random lockups which can be reproduced easily.

MSI?  Are you going to fix thia!!!

sccarlso, nothing like a classic thread hijack. You don't have the same RAM as the OP. Further more, have you updated the BIOS to 1.B like G.Skill shows in your link? RAM with a standard SPD profile of 1333, 9 9 9 24 @ 1.50v's should work without problems.

How is this a thread hijack?  Did you have a bad day or something?  All I did was comment that I was in the same boat and it seems like there's a LOT of people having this issue.

I've done the exact same, and have the exact same issue.  And YES, the bios is updated to 1.B...that's what the memory is qualified with.

I can see if someone was to jump in and say "hey, and my hard drive isn't connecting" or "My rig is constantly rebooting" which is completely off topic.    That's a thread hijack.


Never seen a forum that asks people to post identical topics.  From what I've read in other related posts it doesn't seem to be a problem with the RAM, and there's a ton of people who are posting on newegg who have similar problems with all different makes of RAM and they get the same "please email me at xxxx@msi to help with your issue."  "and include your serial number".

That tells me that MSI has a crap manufacturing run out there but is too lame to admit it so people can check if they have a defective board themselves and get it replaced quickly.  Instead customers have to waste their time spending hours or days trying to fix something that is likely a flaw in the hardware that MSI won'd admit to in the open.  Been there, done that.  I work for a hardware manufacturer and our lame PM's and executives do the same crap when there's a screw up on a large scale.  But it doesn't mean it's right. 

Quality RAM (especially RAM that's verified) should run with the auto settings.  And since the same memory works fine in an ASUS board where I could actually run a memtest on it successfully, tells me that MSI's sweeping things under the rug given the amount of problems customers are experiencing which are either continual reboots or lockups with no errors in the Windows logs.

As for this "user forum", it's not a user forum, this is a helpdesk.  What moderator decided that the format is "one user posts and others only post to help that one user"?  Or is this the only support MSI offers it's customers?

G.Skill went to bed with brand X (I've sent you a PM with evidence of collaboration with brand X), & basically is forcing non standard SPD profiles with some of their RAM offerings. For 'quality' RAM, Corsair GT's or CMGTX's are excellent. Any DDR3 with an SPD profile of 1333, 9 9 9 24 @ 1.50v's for the current releases of Sandy Bridge native supported CPU IMC should work without fail.
