Hello all,

I recently purchased a MSI P67A-GD65 motherboard and an i5 2500k. The build went fine until I tried to install windows 7. The install always fails on "cannot install required files" right after windows install copies the files. I have tried the newest IRST AHCI drivers prior to starting the install (F6 equivalent) but that does not change anything same failures everytime. I have the HDD plugged into the black SATA 3G ports and I disabled the marvell controller, AHCI is obviously set in BIOS. The BIOS I am on is 1.B, have tried the install from CD and USB with the same results.

So my question is...

What is the right AHCI driver? has anyone else had this issue? I have tried multiple intel drivers after the IRST AHCI nothing budges and it fails at the same spot. This install media is a legit ISO copy (i.e. non-pirated) and has worked before on my previous build.

Any suggestions or help is greatly appreciated.

Are you definitely selecting the 64-bit version of the driver? Try the Intel Rapid Storage Technology Driver from here: http://www.msi.com/product/mb/P67A-GD65--B3-.html#/?div=Driver&os=Win7%2064 (It can be done from a USB stick)

Found the issue....

XMP put the memory at 1600Mhz, set to 1333Mhz error went away and OS installed.

Also, that driver caused setup to bluescreen, upon further investigation that driver looks to be for the 5 series chipsets, not 100% sure though.

Thank you for the support!

Sounds like memory corruption was the cause by the sounds of it then. Glad you've got it sorted.
