I built a new PC last week. For the first 4 days, the only problem I had with it was Assetto Corsa Evo not launching (I press play on Steam, the game tries to launch for 3 seconds, and then nothing hapens and the play button goes back in Steam). On day 5, the PC started crashing when I open Discord (PC freezes for like 15-30 seconds, then the screen that says "Windows ran into a problem" pops up for a split second, then the PC restarts on its own). This happens somewhat intermittently. For the Assetto Corsa thing, I also figured today that deleting the ACE folder in my Users folder got the game to at least launch a little, but then the PC freezes and crashes just like the Discord problem. But unlike the Discord problem, this one happens all the time (I've never managed to get Asetto Corsa Evo running at all). I also think this freeze and crash has happened outside of Discord and ACE, but I can't remember where and I can't seem to get it to happen again. Other programs and games are fine. The EZ debug LED on my motherboard says it's a RAM issue.
As of right now, the PC crashes:
The parts in this PC are:
As of right now, the PC crashes:
- 100% of the time when trying to launch Assetto Corsa Evo
- 70-80% of the time when launching Discord
- 50% of the time when launching Edge or Rainbow Six Siege
- 10% of the time when booting into Windows
- And occasionally randomly crashing at random times
- The crashes also happen more after a restart from a crash.
- So far everything I've tried include:
- Swapping the RAM sticks and running each stick individually both in slot #2 and slot#4
- Reinstalling all drivers and programs
- Reinstalling Windows and completely fresh
- Reseating the graphics card
- Running OCCT stress test for CPU+mem and GPU 3D and VRAM, each for 2 hours, no errors
- Running 6 instances of HCI MemTest for 1 hour, no errors
- Testing different memory speeds (6400MHz, 6000MHz, 5800MHz, 5600MHz, 4800MHz)
- Having everything enabled or disabled in the BIOS
- BIOS update to the newest version from end of June (so last week)
- Turning off hardware acceleration in apps
- Running DISM in CMD and checked with sfc /scannow, no problems there
The parts in this PC are:
- Ryzen 5 9600X
- Radeon RX 9070 Gigabyte Gaming OC
- IRDM 32GB 6400MHz CL32 DDR5
- MSI Pro B850-S WiFi 6E
- WD Black SN770 NVMe 2TB (taken from old laptop)
