So, the M.2_1 slot keeps reverting to PCIe 1 x 4 on a cold boot, sometimes just a reboot from within Windows. Manually setting it to Gen 4 or 5 within the BIOS will get it to run full speed until the next shut down/cold boot, then it's back to 1 x 4 again. Basically, I have to keep switching between gen 4 and 5 setting on every boot or it's stuck at 1 x 4. Auto is also broken. Samsung 990 Evo Plus 1TB.

I've seen another user on Reddit with the exact same issue. Same board, different drive. Anyone using this board, check your drive speed!

Not fixed on Godlike when resuming from sleep modes. 39 and 34 were pretty solid on cold boot though, feels like 39 resumes from sleep in x1 more frequently, but I've only had it a few days.
It's all random. I doubt it's any better than any other bios in the past for this issue. I used 36 and now 39, both seem to fail just like any other. The only thing that really made any improvement was when I swapped to the Samsung 9100 Pro. Prior to doing that I was getting a 70% failure to connect at 5x4, now it's about a 20% rate not connecting at the rated speed.

I guess this thread is dead, eh. No more info, no bios, no fix, no nothing. We just living with disable USB4 and not using M2_1. Another win for MSI, right @Alan J T ?

For me (B850 edge ti) the latest bios fix mostly fixes the issue, however I still keep getting random pcie1 and pcie3 time-to-time.

Unfortunately I can't reproduce them that easily now to extent where I would be able to RMA it second time.
Sometimes the issue happens after a long usage of PC, sometimes it happens after sleep.

As soon as I can reproduce it again, I'll send it for RMA again.

If it is not fixed with a BIOS update, I would recommend you RMA the motherboard as faulty.

another issue appeared on my motherboard x870 tomahawk. my usb always disconnecting and there is message the the usb port is not enough power when my usb devices are mouse, keyboard, wireless headset and webcam.

Just wondering how many here we have already seen do this with the same failure result, and also returned a scratched up/damaged product? At least several posts here mentioning this.

Yep, I know, and it should not happen

All I can suggest is you take photos of the board's condition before the RMA, and if the one you get returned is not in the same condition, you demand a full Refund

It would be interesting to see what the commonality in all those users you know is. I've seen a few comment they are fine, but like you they are all using Gen4 drives in a Gen5 mother board. For myself, when I had my (Gen5) Corsair MP700 Pro 2TB in M2_1, it was way more problematic than the (Gen 5) 9100 Pro 4TB I am using now.
I think I know what the commanality is, atleast in my case. I have had no issues with GEN 5 speeds for 2 years of usage, now I get detection issues. It happened after I installed additionally 2 more sticks of RAM. So i guess the memory controller/chipset and NAND cache voltage regulation is the issue. I never noticed it until I started some heavy machine learning tasks and was using Unreal/Unity for some work stuff and when I had many threads hitting the disk with large writes' the drive disappeared, initially it would just go down to GEN1 which I didn't notice again since I thought it was just Unity being Unity then I got the BSODS when the drive started disappearing. (I am on a X670E board, specifically the MPG Carbon Wifi but this is across the board for many boards. It's also happening on ASUS as well AFAIK )

Can you use basic logic and explain how is this a logical move when people on this very thread have RMAed 3+ times and this fixes nothing?
But RMA fixes everything. MSI can do no wrong and are there to help us and solve the problem.... right? (edited to note... this is sarcasm since I realized there are very much some folks here who fail to understand or detect what that actually is)

Just received a Godlike X870E back from 2ND RMA, it's not my original MOBO. I sent in MY Godlike X870E motherboard for RMA the 1ST time because the Dynamic Dashboard III stopped working and M.2_1 slot would randomly drop to Gen1 speeds after cold boot (in LIKE NEW condition with no scratches or cosmetic wear & tear). When I received my Godlike X870E motherboard back from the 1ST RMA the DDIII was fixed but the M.2_1 slot was not and it was COVERED in scratches and cosmetic damage (dents, dings etc).

MSI costumer support told me to send it in for a 2ND RMA and they would address everything. I just received back a different motherboard (not my own, different serial number) covered with even more scratches than my original Godlike X870E motherboard and the M.2_1 slot still drops speeds after cold boot, see attached pics below.

MSI offered me a full refund after I told them it still was not fixed after the 2ND RMA then denied it after I told them I purchased it from AliExpress, they said AliExpress isn't an "authorized retailer", so they're now telling me to send it back for a 3RD RMA...

I'm considering going to small claims court and demanding my refund that way, I have a mountain of evidence their product is faulty and they've done nothing to rectify it and send me motherboards that are more damaged than my original I sent in.

yeah even more proof this process isn't working and they are just screwing their customers over and hoping things blow over and just go away.
