So, the M.2_1 slot keeps reverting to PCIe 1 x 4 on a cold boot, sometimes just a reboot from within Windows. Manually setting it to Gen 4 or 5 within the BIOS will get it to run full speed until the next shut down/cold boot, then it's back to 1 x 4 again. Basically, I have to keep switching between gen 4 and 5 setting on every boot or it's stuck at 1 x 4. Auto is also broken. Samsung 990 Evo Plus 1TB.

I've seen another user on Reddit with the exact same issue. Same board, different drive. Anyone using this board, check your drive speed!

So i swap from M2_1 to M2_2 but even this dont solve it! I got half the normal speeds 3500Mb/s instead the normal 7500MB/s! i got without the RTX 5090 in the PCI-E slot installed!
How come Samsung Magician shows this? Gen 5 x16 is only for GPUs? Mine shows PC Max: Gen 5 x4 in this section

GPU's have access to 16 lanes. Nvme drives to 4 lanes. What you see is correct. Problem is the M.2_1 is randomly going from 1 x4 to 5 x4 and not staying at at maximum rated speed by either Auto or manual BIOS settings.
I know that, I was just wondering why Samsung Magician on my pc shows the PC Max as gen 5 x4.
My GPU works correctly and at x16

Not sure why Samsung SSD software would even care what link speed the GPU is!

Support just sent me a beta bios that says they fixed the M.2.1 speed bug. I have yet to try it, as busy with work atm.

BIOS 7E59v2A41
That's good news hopefully. I wonder how far it is away for their flagship GODLIKE MB now....? I guess buying their best does not come with the perks of having a fix first.

Fingers crossed as well. If this isn't fixed this week I'm unfortunately going to have to return my tomahawk to the retailer I purchased it at before the return window closes so that I can go with a competitor's product.

Their latest reply after I asked for an update on the ticket yesterday
It does sound like they've acknowledged the problem, at least on some boards.

As part of my troubleshooting process, I was advised to update my BIOS to version 7E59v2A33. Since applying the update, my M2_2 drive intermittently fails to appear in the BIOS on boot. It only becomes recognized after one or two restarts.

At this point, I’ve run out of patience. I’ll be returning this motherboard as soon as my replacement arrives.

It works most of the time but periodically on boot it is not recognized at all. Once it boots it's fine. Glad thay you're not experiencing that issue though.

Updated to Beta 7E59v2A41 dated March 14th)

It’s looking very good so far after some testing today on my Tomahawk X870E.

Did 15 restarts, 10 shutdowns (boot from cold) and 7 Sleep Wake up’s. No 1.0 x4 drop for my Crucial PCIe 5 M.2 installed in M.2.1 slot was seen, all were 5.0 x4 in CrystalDiskInfo.

Will continue further testing to be 100% sure.

That seems good news! and speeds are the expected for the drive?
