PCIe bug with M2_1 slot on X870E Tomahawk

So, the M.2_1 slot keeps reverting to PCIe 1 x 4 on a cold boot, sometimes just a reboot from within Windows. Manually setting it to Gen 4 or 5 within the BIOS will get it to run full speed until the next shut down/cold boot, then it's back to 1 x 4 again. Basically, I have to keep switching between gen 4 and 5 setting on every boot or it's stuck at 1 x 4. Auto is also broken. Samsung 990 Evo Plus 1TB.

I've seen another user on Reddit with the exact same issue. Same board, different drive. Anyone using this board, check your drive speed!

The Beta I was testing is now officially on the website now for the Tomahawk board. Try it out guys and see how it performs for you, as I still did some more checks again and no 1.0 x4 speed drop so far.

Btw, after flashing do a CMOS reset, boot to windows, then reboot and apply any bios settings you want to change and save. Then check to see if the 1.0 x4 issue is gone.

I always did a CMOS reset after a bios flash even if the flash resets the settings to default.

Any clue whether the beta file we tested yesterday is at all different from the official release on the website? Should I bother switching from the beta release to the official?

Someone here mentioned that he received Beta 7E59v2A41 and it worked. Does anyone know if they are working on a fix?
The official release on the download page is the same as the beta, no further changes to the bios was made, so no reason to reflash from the beta to the public one. It appears fixed for me on my Crucial T705 PCIe Gen 5, as I have been testing yesterday and today for a few hours at a time with lots of restarts and cold boot shutdowns and a few wakeup sleeps and no 1.0 x4 drop has occurred (all were 5.0 x4 and benchmark speeds were normal). I have already made a post about the benchmark earlier with a screen shot

Unfortunately, the official one not working for me.
Try clearing the CMOS after flashing to the latest release on the download page, make sure it boots to windows, restart windows then change any settings you had earlier in the bios and save. Afterwards recheck to see if you get the 1.0 x4 speed drop. I have not had the 1.0 x4 drop after 2 days of around 30 restarts, 20 shutdowns (cold boots) but I'm still going to keep testing all this week to be 100% sure its fixed.

Did you tested the official bios? Thank you.

Waiting for this BIOS for my Godlike x870e
Amazing how the top-of-the-line board customers get shuffled to the back of the pack isn't it? Equally, if not worse, when talking to their customer support team the left hand has no idea of what the right hand is doing, sounds to me like poor management of different teams not coordinating issues and results. I'm guessing the angry noise from the Tomahawk customers is probably louder because there are more of those out there.

You get what you pay for haha. Joke aside, I’m sure a new update will drop soon, as all the MSI X870E boards share the same similar code. They’re probably testing it/finalising it first, plus, the Tomahawk is still not out of the woods just yet until more users confirm the fix worked for them, so other boards maybe delayed until then.

I'd love to get the X870E Tomahawk, but I'm waiting to see if the bug is finally fixed. Some say yes with the beta, others say no with the official one released yesterday... What a mess. It's either get the X870E, which suffers from a bug that may never be fixed (unless the latest BIOS works), or get the B850, which suffers from other teething bugs that were finally fixed on the X870. Well done, MSI.

Before i bought the board last week i knew about the bugs that the board has. Beside of the bug with the speed i am really happy. Its a nice board.

Have you tried the beta bios, since the official one doesn't work in your case? I know they are supposed to be the same, but I also frequent the msi forum on Reddit and people seem to have different results depending on the bios (new one or beta).
