For AMD X870 models, it needs to update BIOS to version listed below,
and then can be updated with new PD firmware 0105 via MSI Center Live Update.

If BIOS version is older, PD firmware will not be available in Live Update.

For X870E GODLIKE: E7E48AMSI.1A24
For X870E CARBON WIFI: E7E49AMSI.1A23
For X870 TOMAHAWK WIFI: E7E51AMSI.1A24
For X870E EDGE TI WIFI: E7E59AMSI.1A24 (Will be uploaded to website soon)
For X870E TOMAHAWK WIFI: E7E59AMSI.2A34 (Will be uploaded to website soon)

Hello. PD firmware 0105 for X870E GODLIKE seems to have fixed device disconnect for my samsung s23 ultra phone when it is low battery (<40%). it charges about 28 watts and doesnt drop out. I was on firmware 0102 and 0104 with no success in fix, 0105 seems fixed.

This is just nuts. Why not take the firmware update down, and post a notice saying there is an issue while MSI fixes it? Not sure how it is okay to have so many people nuke USB ports.

Hi @Svet, @Alan J T
Is there a way to recover if this fails? I need the update for my X870E Tomahawk, but I'm concerned after the above failures by 2 users

Not sure if can be recovered. But some kind of recovery attempt can be tried with internal msi tools eventually.

They can't duplicate such issues.

Just happened to see this thread, but it seems like a simple bios reflash to the current bios as of today, 8/30/25 (reflash, Shut down immediately on flash end, hold Clear CMOS button for 10 seconds, reboot) should restore the earlier version of the PD FW which doesn't work well but which also doesn't cause any problems. The earlier version of the PD FW file is in the latest bios, apparently, and there is a reason MSI still hasn't included the newer version in the latest bios update--for me, that is 7E51v1A67, released Aug 6, for my x870 Tomahawk. I have no need for front-port USB charging, so I'll stick with the installed 102 version.
