Just picked this up for what I believe is a very good price. I'm on the fence about purchasing a 12th or 13th gen. Intel CPU. Not a lot of gain going with a 13th gen, but you never know what sales price might pop up. I figured I'd have to flash the bios with the pre-build method if I went with 13th gen. That wasn't preferred so I was leaning towards 12th gen if nothing more than a bit cheaper. Well low and behold my S/N indicates my board is an April 2023 build (2304) I was a bit shocked Z690's were still be being built just four months ago? No worries now about a pre-build flash now as I believe the July 2022 Bios release addressed the 13th gen CPU's.

On a side note, the July 2023 Bios updates mentions "future CPU's" Does that indicate Gen 14 will stick with LGA 1700 and this board will be good to go?

its Possible but who Knows it may just be for a planned lower end CPU or a Higher clock higher end as its just speculation that 14th gen will be LGA1700 as its not confirmed yet but personally I would lean towards it probably will be LGA1700 as the next socket seems to be for 15th Gen from what I can tell.

Usually Intel either do 2 or 3 generations per socket before they totally change it last socket was a 2 gen (10th and 11th) but its possible this one is 12th,13th and 14th.

Yep, impossible to say. But seeing July 2022 Bios update was for "new" 13th gen. CPU's and July of this year shows Bios updates for new CPU's portends maybe another round of LGA 1700. tic toc, we we should now soon.
