Prestige A16 AI+ A3HMG; Copilot+ PC - Audio Related Issues and Firmware

Hi, wondering if anyone can help, bought MSI prestige a16 ai, only 1 month ago, updated drivers as requested but now my microphone will not work at all. It was working fine previously. I have tried several solutions I read online but none have worked. Unable to instill the newest version of bios for some reason. All downloaded directly from MSI website. Any help would be appreciated.

Are there any icons displaying in Device Manager?

Also, which AMD Adrenaline version are you using?

It is about a month since I got my laptop. Didn't updated the bios, disabled Windows Update from installing drivers. After playing with MSI Center S, I activated AI and in advanced setting of AI, I selected Light work only. With this on, the laptop is allways cool. Otherwise, it gets warmer all the time. Of course when playing games like Command & Conquer remastered, StarCraft II or Unravel Two, it gets warm but I have a laptop plate to shield my legs from the heat. So far, it is performing well.

For those who would want to update their AMD Adrenaline software, you can go ahead. However, there's a caveat since MSI still have not fixed the issue. I even reported it to AMD.

The way I've done, I used AVG Driver Updater (I know, it's not best way for updating drivers, but still AVG is a trusted brand). Anyway, back to it:

- Install AVG driver updater
- Let it do all the updates
- Update AMD software
- Restart
- Launch AVG driver updater again
- Revert audio driver (it will detect it and revert to previous version on its own)

This way, you will have the latest AMD adrenaline and a working audio.

I also wished I'd seen this post before going through all the pain!! For a brand new laptop this is extremely disappointing! Main thing that helped me out was updating the support utility 'MSI Center' first. Get AMD Adrenalin and AMD install manager. Took me 6 days to finally get sound!

Just made an account to tell you my solution for the MSI Creator A16 AI+ A3XVFG. I was ready to smash the laptop after trying to solve this for weeks. My speakers and microphones are now working correctly after just uninstalling Realtek Audio through the control panel. I also disabled windows update from updating the drivers (otherwise it will automatically install Realtek). Hope this helps anyone else. Also the laptop boots way faster now after this was solved, it used to be stuck on the MSI logo for minutes before.

Hello guys, I'm also experiencing issues with my laptop MSI Prestige A16 AI+ A3XMG. I'm having flickering screen on the built-in screen of the laptop with the graphic and chipset drivers that provides MSI. It is an issue that only happens to that screen. If I connect an external monitor, the flickering doesn't appear there. I decided to install the newest graphics and chipset drivers from the official AMD website. The installation was successful and the flickering issue dissapeared, but now I have the conflict with the AMD USB Audio Driver which causes the built-in speakers of the laptop to stop working. I also updated the BIOS to the latest version (E159KAMS.319) but it stills the same issues. If I install the MSI drivers, I have flickering screen, and if I install the AMD drivers, I have no speakers

Thought I had mine figured but windows updates still kills sound. This is the best site I have found to completely fix your sound issues: https://www.msi.com/faq/faq-3725
Basically make sure your on the latest bio update and follow the instructions. Hardest part for me was entering safe mode, that gave me headaches.

So, was it permanently fixed or it wasn't fixed? Or are you intending to say you fixed it, but Windows update still kills the sound?

After doing the BIOS update and following the instruction at the site listed above it's proven to be a permanent fix.

Thanks for the prompt response. Just another questions, the instructions on the site mentions "getting the latest driver from the MSI website", am I assuming that you got the AMD graphics and Audio drivers from here: https://au.msi.com/Business-Product..._product=Prestige-A16-AIplussign-A3HMG#driver

And if you did, have you tried updating your AMD drivers using AMD's adrenaline software found here: https://www.amd.com/en/support/download/drivers.html ?

Could you by any chance share the AMD driver's versions, it's not too much to ask?

Would appreciate your reply.

Site I use: https://www.msi.com/Business-Produc..._product=Summit-A16-AIplussign--A3HMTG#driver

AMD graphics drivers from above site: 24.30.22.05_WHQL_250123a-412269C-MSI_NPU280_32.0.13022.5002_NPU280_0x3947ee62
From memory I used Adrenaline to install but you must check box to uninstall old drivers first.

Just make sure you follow instruction to the letter from here https://www.msi.com/faq/faq-3725
Thank you! So, the 24.30.22.05 is the old driver. If you grab the latest adrenaline and update, I am pretty sure it will break it again, because that's what's happening with me.

So, I use driver updater to update the graphic driver, and keep the audio drivers out of date.

Thanks for the replies, I appreciate it.

So at the end what did you do to solve this? Did you update your drivers with Adrenaline, or did you take the drivers from the official MSI webpage? And which version of each of them?

Well, what I did is I created a batch file (attached) to remove all audio and graphics drivers (essentially removing anything related to Realtek, DTS, and AMD). And then downloaded the drivers from the MSI website, installed them.

Afterwards, I used AMD's update manager to only update the AMD chipset.

Afterwards, I have used AVG's driver updater (now I am skeptical about using driver updater, but AVG is a well-known product). Using AVG, I updated the relevant drivers (e.g., audio, graphics) one by one, after each single driver update, I restarted the laptop to make sure nothing has broken and then proceeded with the next update.

All my drivers are current now, including AMD's audio drivers.

Note 1: The important thing is not using AMD's update manager to update Adrenaline.

Note 2: The attached batch file (for whoever wants to use it) keep in mind that if the driver OEM is different than the batch file, then the driver will not be removed. To run the batch file, extract it, right-click and then "run as Administrator". It will only remove the drivers in the list.
