Prestige A16 AI+ Any update on AMD OEM graphics drivers for Ryzen AI 300?

Hi everyone,

I have a Prestige A16 AI+ A3HMG with Ryzen 9 AI 365 and Radeon 880M.The latest AMD OEM graphics driver from MSI is still 32.0.13022.5002 (AMD branch 24.30.22.05), released on January 23rd, 2025. Since then, MSI has released several BIOS updates (I'm currently on E159KAMS.31B), but no newer AMD OEM graphics driver has been provided.

Other OEMs using the same Ryzen AI 300 platform (ASUS, Lenovo, HP) have already released newer AMD OEM drivers, up to 25.12.1 (February 2026), which include:
- updated NPU firmware
- better power management
- Modern Standby fixes
- updated DX12/Vulkan/Video components

I also tried AMD Adrenalin drivers, but as expected they are not stable on this laptop (audio issues and Modern Standby problems). So OEM drivers are the only reliable option, which is why updated MSI OEM drivers are important.

So I’d like to ask:
1) Is MSI planning to release an updated AMD OEM graphics driver for this model?
2) Is the Ryzen AI 300 platform still actively supported on the Prestige A16 AI+?
3) Is a newer driver currently under validation or WHQL certification?

Thanks in advance, this info would be really helpful for users relying on this laptop for work.
 
You may want to clearly mention the specific reason why a newer AMD graphics driver is needed.
For example, if the current driver is causing issues with certain games, missing game support, performance problems, crashes, or compatibility issues, please list the affected game titles and describe the symptoms in detail.
This would make the request much clearer. If MSI sees the post, having specific use cases such as game compatibility, driver-related crashes, or performance issues would provide a stronger reason to push for a newer AMD graphics driver release.

I’m not using this laptop as a gaming machine. I’m a professional user, and this is a professional‑class device, so long‑term stability, updated NPU/GPU firmware, proper Modern Standby behavior and reliable OEM drivers are essential. This is not about gaming performance, it’s about maintaining a professional platform properly. The point is that the current MSI OEM driver (32.0.13022.5002 – AMD 24.30.22.05) is now over 16 months old, and even if the laptop still “works”, a driver of this age is objectively outdated.

AMD has released multiple newer OEM branches for the same Ryzen AI 300 platform (up to 25.12.1 in February 2026) because they include important fixes: updated NPU firmware, improved power management, Modern Standby stability, DX12/Vulkan updates, video improvements, and other platform‑level bug fixes. These are not “gaming features”, they are core system components.

I also tested AMD Adrenalin drivers, but as expected they are not stable on this model (audio issues and Modern Standby problems), so OEM drivers are the only reliable option.

This is why I’m asking MSI whether an updated OEM graphics driver is planned or currently under validation, it’s about keeping the platform properly maintained, not about a specific game title.
 
I’d like to follow up on this thread once more, hoping I’m not the only one feeling increasingly uneasy about the situation. We’re in end-August 2026, yet the laptop is still running an AMD driver from late 2024, and any attempt to install generic drivers causes the entire audio subsystem to stop functioning.

Other manufacturers tend to release updates more regularly, ensuring that AMD’s optimizations. If not on day one, at least within a reasonable timeframe.
This device, instead, feels as if it has been out of support since the day it launched.
It’s difficult not to wonder whether MSI considers basic functionality to be sufficient.

I’m also curious whether a BIOS update could be provided by MSI to allow generic Adranlin drivers by decoupling audio subsystem.

I’d like to ask other users with similar laptop architectures: have you managed to work around this issue in any way?
 
My thought is that because AMD's drivers are for all brands and products, there might be compatibility issues, while MSI's official drivers have certainly passed MSI's testing and have better compatibility. It's generally recommended to keep using MSI's driver versions.
 
In truth it’s a bit more complicated. MSI and other manufacturers have developed the BIOS and the integration of custom audio services in a symbiotic way with a specific version of the Adrenalin drivers. So unless the way the whole system works gets reworked, MSI would have to port those same logic components over to the new branches of AMD’s drivers — something they clearly aren’t very eager to do, or at least far less eager than other manufacturers.

If they could at least find a way to make the audio work with the generic drivers, that alone would already be progress. If things continue like this, once MSI stops supporting these laptops you’ll necessarily have to install updated AMD drivers (iGPU, NPU, etc.) and give up audio entirely. It would be nice to know whether they’re working on a solution.
