Prime95 Bug?

Ok, so i have had massive headaches with RAM, cos Prime95 was totally unstable and crashed out.

But you know what, I solved it.

PRIME95 WILL CRASH EVERY TIME YOU USE IT.... IF YOU HAVE NO PAGEFILE SET.

That's right folks, most music producers with enough RAM will run their PC with no pagefile. this forces the system to run in RAM and makes Audio latency a lot lower and things can stay tight...

That's what I did, but Prime95 doesn't like it one little bit. Too bad it took me an RMA'd set of RAM and a lot of late nights to figure out why nothing would fall over in my system except P95. I'm gonna tell the writers....

So, anyone with P95 problems, check your virtual memory settings, it just might be the issue that's causing you pain.

as for me? i've got a dedicated drive for my swap now, and i've got 18hours of Memtest86+ and 9hours of priority 10 blend testing in P95 under my belt

Not really. If you set to auto then Windows decides how much to use. If you set to custom then you decide. However the problem only appears if you don't use it at all.

strange thing is is that this is the first time i have even looked at my pagefile settings and they were on custom allready...

Pagefile size appears to be a classic subject. I did a lot of research on this and I've provided a few links to helpful articles that I read. These articles conflict with each other, but there are some good points made in each. If you search through the Black Viper link, you'll see that he's benchmarked some games, etc. with different settings.
