PRO MP341CQ monitor for a 2019 macbook

Just bought a PRO MP341CQ for a 2019 macbook. In the default setting an architectural drawing PDF on the macbook look sharp and legible. When I drag it over to the MSI, it looks ok for a split second, then on refresh it "gets blurry". I'm connecting via HDMI cable, and have tried the default 3440x1440 setting and have also tried BetterDisplay App.
3440x1440: Full screen, blurry text and details (not just in PDF)
1920x1079 (HiDpi according to BetterDisplay): Image similar to macbook, but I loose screen real estate to black edges.

Is there any options to get a HiDpi resolution from the MSI from a macbook?
