I don't think this is motherboard related, and since you go past post screen, BIOS already done its job loading stuff, but u get stuck when trying to read from disk. Also, since you already swapped all drives except boot drive, the issue could be with your boot drive.

Then, try to run check disk:
1. Press Windows + X keys and click command prompt(admin)

Getting to POST Screen is what takes a long time. Once it boots it works normally.

Clean boot... Screen goes black for about 4 minutes. Then VGA Debug light comes on White for 20 seconds with a single cursor on screen.
After 20 seconds light goes off and windows boot starts normally. After that system responds normally.

This happens every time I reboot, clean boot or normal boot.

Before this issue came up my system would boot completely into windows in less than 20 seconds from power on to login.
I will run chkdsk /f /r
Should I run this on all volumes or just the boot drive?
I have 3 nvme and 6 sata.
Boot is nvme.

Enabling memory fast boot (if disabled) can help too, although the additional time it takes is due to memory training which can help improve performance and stability once the system boots.

I ran chkdisk. Took about 20 -30 minutes.

Reboot and still the same.
I will check the bios settings.

It just takes a while to get into the bios.
I have to wait for the vga light to go out before hitting del.

I did set noot to biot when holding power for 4 seconds after poweron. will see if that works.

Boot2BIOS doesn't work.

From power on to actual post is 3 min 20 sec.
At that point I can hit Del and get into bios.

MSI fast boot is on, Boot Delay is off.
Full screen logo is off.

Initial setup and Windows install was with a single nv,e drive installed.

The system was rock solid stable with 20 second boot from power on to login before I added new drives recently.

Installed 3 new sata drives and connected them to sata ports on the motherboard.
From that point on the system has been not normal.

Initiially I couldn't get Disk Management to open It would loading.

After a few dozen reboots and checking acbles a,f clearing cmos and reflashing 1.40, then 1.43 again I am
where I am at. All drives connected.

Power on takes 3 min 20 sec till post and availability of boot options. From there boot is normal and system
responds normally. Disk management loads within a second or two.

It is just the 3 minute delay between me pressing the power button and the boot options being available.
At 3 min 20 sec, the vga light comes on momentarily and then the display shows my NetXtreme II cards then the options to book into bios, or boot menu. Hitting Del at this point loads bios instantly, hitting nothing boots into windows normally, less than 20 seconds to login.

I got you now... i thought that it was getting stuck on windows loading.
Can you please try to boot without any usb devices connected? If you must, only connect mouse and keyboard... Let us know of the outcome.

No USB devices plugged in. System is powered off.
Hit power button.
At 6 min 45 sec vga debug light turns on white
At 6 min 55 sec vga debug light goes off and display starts with boot options.
20 seconds later I am logged into Windows and system is working normally.

I will try disconnecting all sata devices and only have the nvme connected during boot.
Usb will be disconnected also for this test.

Booting with all sata disconnected was no change.

Booted with add-in nic removed. Boot time returned to normal.
From power on to login: 38 sec

Installed Nic in PCI_E4. Boot time was 53 seconds.

Installed Nic in PCI_E3. Boot time was back to 6 min 55 sec to post/boot options.

Nic is Dell Broadcom 57810S 10GB Dual Port PCI-E Network Card
identifies in Dev Manager as QLogic BCM57810 10 Gigabit Ethernet

This card was working fine in PCI_E3 until recently.
iperf xfer rate in PCI_E3 was 9.8~ Gb/s

Performance in PCI_E4 is 3.3~ Gb/s

The only difference is in the time from power on to post.
6~ Minutes with card in PCI_E3
50~ Seconds with card in PCI_E4

Why did this work before and not now?

Documentation shows no conflist with M2 slots, SATA, PCIE slots.

It was working fine till I installed new sata drives. Even with sata drives removed,
the boot time to post with Nic in PCI_E3 is still over 6 minutes.

I'd like to have my 10 Gb/s back, but not have the +6 minute post time.

I don't understand how this happens. Why does the system work fine with the card for a month, then suddently decide to sit and wait at boot. What is it waiting for?

Don't blame your frustration. Could it be a defective NIC?

I have two identical nics. I could swap them between the systems and see if that changes

The only thing besides the Post Screen Delay that slowed down my boot was a memory setting in bios that I changed. Under advanced DRAM configuration I have Dynamic memory Boost and Realtime Memory Frequency and DRAM Training Configuration disabled. Memory Fast Boot is set to Auto. I may have changed that to disabled and that caused a slow boot unfortunately I can't remember which one was the problem. Dynamic Memory Boost enabled caused issues while system was already on. I think that may be only for DDR5. I'm not knowledgeable in memory settings.

Swapped the nics. Identical 10gb nic from second computer in PCIE_3. Back to 6 minutes to boot.
Moved it to PCIE_4. Boots in about a minutes, but no USB.
Removed Nic. Reboot. No USB. If USB is plugged in during power on/boot ithe usb port is not working.
disconnected all the sata drives, pulled the nic.

Oh. It hangs during shutdown. waited 10 minutes didn't power off just kep saying shutting down.
Now only nvme drives and gou.

Now in addition to USB ports not working it goes bank after windows start completes.

USB only works if I plug it in after it starts loading windows, so I cant get to bios anymore.

Clear CMOS. No change. Now I can't boot to windows on this system.

Pulled the GPU. Now I can boot into windows successully and USB works, after windows starts loading.

No USB available on any port until windows starts loading. I'm trying to find a way to get to bios from windows,
but I don't think there is an easy way.

Help? Is there a problem with my motherboard?

Got into bios from windows restore mode. Loaded defaults. Rebooted.
USB is now available during boot and I can get back into bios normally.
I'm going to slowly put things back together, leaving out the nic.
First, shutdown and add GPU back, reboot.
If everything works, then shutdown and reconnect sata drives, maybe a few at a time, then reboot in between.
Let's see how far I get before running into issues again.
What I won't do is reinstall the Nic. I think that doesn't play nice with the system for some reason.

Hello! I built my first pc exactly a month ago using this motherboard. I noticed my ezbug red led for CPU is turning on after I come back from standby/sleep. It goes away after I restart, boot normally, hibernate, basically a full system reboot.
When using my pc before and after I turn it back on from sleep mode, everything seems fine and working properly. I submitted a ticket to MSI and they basically told me to test my pc components one by one. Seeing as it took me 2 days to build my pc and they were one of the worst 2 days of my life, I'm not trying to basically take apart and rebuild my pc. I made sure my two cpu power cables were plugged in all the way.

Was wondering if anyone else was having the same problem and if you were, how did you fix it? Or if anyone has some more advice, preferably 'easy' ones that don't require a screw driver or brain. As I already forgot how to build a pc and almost broke many things while building it, as I am not built to be tech savvy or an engineer.

Since the mobo led cpu light doesn't turn on if I don't let it sleep/standby, I was thinking of just turning off sleep mode and calling it a day. Out of sight, out of mind?

(repeated this section 4 times)
Power on to bios screen : varied between 20 and 22 sec
login prompt : varied between 43 and 45 sec

This tells me:
1) detecting and initializing the gpu adds a small delay
2) adding sata drives adds increasing amounts of delay based o how many are added
3) The system works fine without the Nic card installed, once installed, the system behaves erratically,
including possible corruption to the bios.

I needed to force a boot into windows recovery mode and from there boot into the bios.
Loaded defaults in the bios and saved and rebooted to get everything back to working normally.

I could technically try installing the Nic and testing that it fails again, but I have convinced myself that it causes problems
after fighting in and a second identical nic for several days.

Do you have any other suggestions besides finding another brand/model of Nic?
I have checked power consumption and it is under 600 watts at stress load with cinebench and heaven demos running simultaneously.
The PSU is an EVGA 850GA Gold. The system has been extremely stable an responsive until the combination of 3 sata drives, with the Nic.
The Nic was added first and appeared to be working fine until I added the last 3 sata drives. After that even with the drives removed, the nic was unstable.

I am tempted to try the Nic once more and attempt to load defaults in the bios again with everything installed.
Maybe. It's 2:30am here now though and I have to work in the morning.

I welcome any suggestions or feedback. I would like to have a 10Gb card working. I think the motherboard is fine, but I really don't know.

You say latest BIOS for your CPU, but BIOS v14 is latest downloadable from support and that is what I am running with that CPU.
Your symptoms sound like what I reported here five days after the platform released, with XMP memory. That has improved with later BIOS revisions (no longer needing workaround of disabling XMP or disabling sleep).

I am running 1.43. I don't know where I got that nor do I know why I upgraded.
I'm told it is a beta bios. I can try going back to 1.40, but I did already try that bios with the Nic and it did not seem to help. I have been stable on 1.43 except for with this Nic installed as described previously.

In case that was directed toward me for my msg #236, that was quoted/meant for someone else.
Your 1.43 is probably very similar to 1.40, 1.40 would not be "back" because MSI releases like this: 1.40 is the non-Beta released version after Betas numbered 1.4x where x>0.
Sorry I don't know why NIC is causing you trouble such as difference in the slots and USB. I can only make comments which don't help your bottom line, such as saying that added boot delay for each SATA device might be BIOS trying to avoid power surge if all drives were hard drives starting to spin at the same instant.

I have MSI fast boot disabled in Bios and my post time is 11 sec. I noticed you said yours was enabled. The Nic appears to be your major slowdown issue. Maybe it's just incompatible with the board? Does MSI make that speed card?
