MSI GE60 2QE Apache Pro, Updated Windows 10, Updated Nvidia, Updated Intel.

I was playing today, I stopped, and then the laptop went into suspension. It always worked well for me. When I returned, the laptop did not come out of the suspension, I hit the power key and it stayed in orange and did not come out of the suspension. So three times, waiting a few minutes between each one. Suddenly I hear it restarts and the monitor goes completely black (off). I plugged in the external display and it works. I restarted and nothing. But if I connect the external monitor I can see everything in it from the beginning. I entered with Windows + p and tried the different options and nothing. I tried with FN and the f2 and f3 keys and nothing. I looked in the system options and I see that only the external display is detected. I tested the webcam and it works without problems.

I have restarted several times, tried to put it to sleep and get it out of it, I looked at the Nvidia and Intel options and only the external monitor is detected, ...

Any ideas?

Thanks in advance!

@Big mac: I have tried to update the BIOS, but the BIOS told me that I have a newest versión.
@RaiderGamer: I have used DDU to delete in safe mode all the Nvidia things, and installed from zero, but nothing.

In both cases, I turn on the laptop and I have to connect the external monitor to see something.

Thank you so much.

does bios show on the screen?

does usb boot windows installtion media show on the screen?

install linux and see what happens

No, on the screen of the Laptop I cannot see anything. I have to connect the external monitor to see the MSI logo, the BIOS, etc.

Ok, I will try that using a USB with Linux, or if this not work, I will install it.

Is there no light on the laptop screen at all or is still light on the screen but no image is displayed?
I think it is a hardware issue.

Maybe you could contact MSI technical support to seek assistance.

I tried with another partition with Windows 10 without the last updates and nothing. And I tried with a new partition with Windows 10 and nothing.

However, two days ago, when I was worked with my laptop using an external monitor (like I have been doing from weeks ago), I updated to the last patches of Windows 10, reboot and nothing, and after that, I updated again the Nvidia, and reboot and nothing. The next day, when I started the PC, the screen turned on and now is working correctly.

Some idea? Maybe is something wrong in the laptop or maybe it was a fail of some Windows/Nvidia update?

Currently, I have the last patches of Windows 10 and the last patch of Nvidia (the screen has been working from the previous one).

TL; DR Logout and log back in (it doesn't seem to be the same as restarting).

I had this problem twice. The first time I tried to fix it by doing the following in order:
- Reboot the machine several times.
- Remove and reinstall the display device and graphic card.
- Downgrade and try to update the drivers.
- Do an "inplace upgrade" to reset the machine, without having to reinstall everything.

Nothing worked.

At that point I thought it was a hardware failure, and I reinstalled windows to make sure. But re-installing windows worked....

The second time that happened I was in despair.

But just logging out of the account and logging back in worked!

I also noticed that the bug happens when I lock the screen and turn off my main monitor. When I unlock and turn on the monitor there's 5-10% chance it will refuse to recognise the second display if I don't log out, Even if I restart. Or so I think...

I hope that I won't have to re-install windows. I came back to windows after being a Mac user for many years. What a joke of an operating system windows is...

from what im reading here looks like your screen is dead. There is a option under Bios ''under advanced bios" linked to Display se there with a external monitor if it detects your screen. Its possible that it could detect the external screen so you might have to see if there is any other screen in those options. If not best case scenario the screen cable inside the laptop has come loss , thats a easy fix open the laptop dissasamble reseat the cable , asamble back again and test it out. Worse case the screen is dead becouse of some unknown reason.

Hello!, I have the same error on my laptop. (GF63 9SCSR) . Did you get any permanent solution to that particular error?
