hi Felon
Had the same problem, 2D was fine but 3D crashed immediately
System setup is;
Windows 98/XP dualboot
XP 1800 (o/c with 139 FSB)
Soltek SL75DRV4 MB (266)
Corsair 256MB PC2100(266) 2.5 Cas Memory
Coolemaster HHC-001 Heatpipe
40GB Diamondmax HDD
Antec SX1040B case
PSU Antec 412 (245W on 3.3 and 5v rails)
Old Graphics card was MSI 8822 GF3.
Everything ran fine till i changed to a MSI GF4 4200 TD (128MB)
Fiddled around with everything you could imagine. Changed display drivers, reinstalled both OS's, everything!
Anyway, eventually when i figured it wasnt software, I started to think about the bios.
Unclocked my XP back down to 133 FSB so it was running at stock speed, rebooted and voila!!! One working system
Its an interesting fix though, due to the fact that the kit Ive got is known for being quite good at handling OCing.
Ah well, ill just have to save up for a new CPU.
OCed the card to 310/540 (doesnt seem to want to stay at 550 even though I select it).
3d scores where 9412 in WinXP and 9850 in Win98. Sooo close to 10k
