Problem with GF4 MX460 VTP - Module Capture from VCR

I have problem with my GF4.

When i try capture from VCR, the bottom of image has a distorsion, like a cut off peace.

I don't know if the driver, software of capture (Ulead Video Studeo 6.0), the "excellent" Windows XP Professional or simply my VCR.

Somebody can help me.

As I don't own a Gf4, all I can suggest is trying different aspect ratios.
I found the Ulead prog to be blotted.
Wincoder is a very simple prog but I think it outputs in mpeg2 which is hard to work with. (If your new to Video editing work with wincoder to get an idea of how things work with sizes etc.)
I use Virtual dub which I output with Huffyuv codecs, but from advice from Rus, im going to look at the Sonic Foundry prog.

Maybe somebody with same card as yours has had similar and solved problem.

Is the prob you get only about 10-20 pixels. If so I get this as well, which you can crop off after capture. Virtual dub allows to letterbox at capture though....

I have the same card and I dont have such problem.This is definetly program problem.As I said to Crazy_Camel try Sonic Foundry Video Factory.It is not perfect but it captures fine.For for other workout with captured file you can use Intervideo.With Intervide you can convert .avi or .mpeg to VCD or DVIX or something else.

I have the same problem. I don't think it's a software issue (unless the capture driver causes it). The bottom 7 lines of captured video seems like shifted right.

You can use VirtualDub ( http://www.virtualdub.org ) to capture, setting crop options to ignore last 7 lines.

I agree with CrazyCamel, use virtualdub and HuffYuv codec http://www.math.berkeley.edu/~benrg/huffyuv.html

This codec does lost free compression, and is *very* fast. You can capture at 320x240 writing average 2.2 MB/s (against over 5 MB/s uncompressed). It allows you to capture 640x480 or 720x480 (DVD quality) with low frame lost (maybe none, depending on your system).

I have G4Ti4400 and had the same problem using Ulead 6.0. I tried the VirtualDub used the crop option and it took care of the problem. I like Ulead because you have the choice to capture using MPEG2 which creates smaller captures. The problem is that I sometimes get a 1 inch solid white line through the middle of the video during playback. This seems to be an on off problem. If anyone has seen any post regarding this I would appreciate a tip.

just came across that prob today. If you do a preview in VirtualDub, the line will appear also.
I'm betting ur playing an orig vid through the puter.
This is macrovision at work, pretty tough to get rid of it mez think :(

wdm 1.08 solved this. Could still av something todo with macro, as copyright video are the only that produce white bar ?(

Are you ROFLOL because you are a crazy bastard or am I missin something here? :D

This is happening with plain old home movies that I am trying to convert from vhs so I can burn on CD. I had the wdm 1.08 drivers and have actually tried all three releases that I know of. Still the same thing. What makes you think it may be macrovision? Have you any more info on this?
