I have the MSI X58 Eclipse SLI,
Diamond Radeon HD 4870 X2
Intel core i7 920 2.66 lga 1366 quad core
microsoft windows vista home premium 64 bit
corsair dominator 6 GB 3x2GB 240 pin ddr 3 sdram ddr 3 1600
cooler master ucp 1100 watt power supply
vigor monsoon II dual 120mm fan s cooler
antec twelve hundred case
2 Western Digital velociraptor 300 gig 3.5 sata drives
1 western digital terabyte drive

Ok i have the 2 drives on raid 7/8 slots....

ever since i built my computer i get a No operating system found about 1/3 the times i boot up, the other 2/3 it boots fine.

Then one day several months into my build it stopped recognizing any drives, until i removed the terabyte drive from a Sata slot and then the 7/8 slot raid popped up again... it would not even read any drives for boot sequence in the bios with the 1 TB connected.  So I just disconnected it since it was a dump drive anyway.... Everything ran fine for a while and now lately I've been getting Smart drive failure errors, but when I finally get windows to boot past that warning, I run all the western digital tests and HD tests I can find and it reads 100 percent fine on my hard drives.   My computer wouldn't even get past the smart drive screen until i unhooked all of my USB cables for some reason...  It's being very quirky...  and sometimes it says I'm running at 133/21 even though its supposed to be 133/20 at 2660....

And my LED2 panel never worked from the beginning... but i didn't feel like RMA'ing the MB

I'm just wondering are my drives actually failing or is this my motherboard? and why would my motherboard not read any drives whatsoever when I hook up my TB dump drive??

And why do i keep getting the 'no operating system found' error.

Aside from that, once i get my computer to boot into windows i have 0 problems, 0 crashes, and everything runs smoothly....

but now with this smart drive failure thing, when i hit 'f1' to continue  i have to reboot several times before it goes to windows...  it says my hard drives support smart drive log, where can i find this log???

Anyone have suggestions?

Don't have any issue with Logitech Keyboard and Mouse on MSI Eclipse SLI
I have G15 Revision 1 and G9 mouse Plugged in and have no issue booting, and yes USB Legacy Support is enabled.

Can you share what BIOS version your are running for the board?

No problems here using BIOS 1.8 or 1.9 using a G15 & MS-3000 USB mouse. Later changed to a G19 (with the mouse hanging off the G19's first USB 2.0 port) plus a USB ADSL wireless modem.

Well even with legacy disabled I get the smart drive error about 1/5 boots.... most of my boots go fine... I just installed windows 7 (not that it will change anything)  And I didn't do a full format though, just a upgrade.... There is a few things it says in boot  up that i didn't use to see.. I'll write them down next time I boot up... Some times the bios displays the name of the Raid drive differently.  It says just 'raid' or raid PNE (Something like that) and some times it displays the Raid 7/8...

Some times when I boot it still says 'no operating system'  which is a problem I had since i built the machine a year ago... Do you think my drives just aren't spooling up or getting power fast enough??

It's weird too sometimes my chip boots up 133x20 and then randomly boots up 133x21... is that some overdrive speed feature or is it being buggy?? i didn't set it to change the multiplier on the cpu.

Sorry for all the random problems across the board... my computer runs pretty well aside from the random boot up errors.

Probably, you want to check in BIOS and see if any of the overclocking features have been accidentally enabled.

Ive got a possible cause and solution for this problem.

Basically the problem occurs for me when the ambient temp is high and/or the IOH chipset is above 80C (which does occur a lot with the vanilla install).

Since i stuck a fan on my IOH chipset, the temp has stayed below 75C and the problem has not occurred except once after continuous high loading with temps rising despite the fan to 79-80C. Temps are what was reported via latest version of speedfan in windows 7.

basically, I figure its heat related, so if you can cool the chipset down somehow then this issue will probably go away.
