I’ve recently been getting back into some older PlayStation 2 games and experimenting with PS2 emulation on PC. It’s interesting how much the experience can vary depending on the CPU, GPU, emulator settings, resolution, and the game being played.

One thing I’m still trying to optimize is finding a good balance between higher internal resolution and stable performance. For anyone setting up an emulator for the first time, I also found this PS2 BIOS and emulator setup guide useful for checking the BIOS and basic configuration requirements.

For anyone here who regularly plays older games through emulators, what settings do you normally recommend? Do you prefer keeping the emulator close to the original console resolution, or do you increase the internal resolution when the hardware allows it?

I’m also interested in hearing which PC hardware combinations have worked particularly well for PS2 emulation. It would be useful to compare experiences across different NVIDIA and AMD GPUs and see which settings make the biggest practical difference.

What emulator settings have given you the most consistent results?
