PS5 controller issues

I am trying to play Apex Legends using my PS5 controller and it’s not picked up by the game at all. The claws game pad overrides it. I would play with the game pad but pressing forward on the left thumb stick to run makes me zoom in and there is no fixing it.

The reason it doesn’t work is apex doesn’t see the controller. I know that it’s not seeing it because when I use ds4 windows it also doesn’t see the controller. Oddly the controller is seen by steam as well as Gamepad tester.com

You can disable the built in controller altogether through the device manager. You would have to use the device like a tablet unless you have a KB/M hooked up or you use steam to map the PS5 controller to desktop functions though... at least until you re-enable the built in controller.

Did you have the same problem while playing a different game or software?
I use the XBOX controller, and it works properly while running Steam and Xbox App.
If it only happens while playing Apex Legends, it might be related to the game optimization or setting.
Regarding the setting, it is worth referring to the video to setup.

Okay but which device is that? There are so many Keyboards and HID devices to choose from.

I really just wish that MSI would release a way to disable the controller in the OSD via the front button. Just get in game, disable the controller, and when you’re done can simply re enable it.

That’s the first thing I tired. If I disable that the claw controls still work perfectly fine. It does not seem to do anything that I can tell.

Many gamers use a Gamepad Tester to adjust and understand controller sensitivity. The tool shows how far an analog stick moves and how triggers respond to pressure.

EDIT: whoops I just realised this thread is 2 years old. I am going to leave my answer here anyway, as nobody else has given the solution.

Use HidHide. I use it for specific games, where I have to hide a number of controllers, so only the one I want to use with them are visible for those games. Also from MSI quick settings (the quick access drop down menu) you can disable the embedded controller, which theoretically should also work.
