PSU exploded!

After installing a new motherboard and connecting all the cables, my PC started for about 8 seconds before my power supply unit (PSU) made a loud noise, causing the circuit breaker in my room to trip. When I tried to reset the circuit breaker, I heard another loud noise.

Now, I'm considering using my friend's power supply unit and attempting to turn on my PC again. Is it a good idea?

I would remove the motherboard from the case first to rule out a short circuit with the case, but PSU should never blow up even under a short circuit unless it is old or has a bad design
