Well i can understand also putting a strain on accesories capacitors and running out of power when its really needed. My power supply also has multiple rails but i have been ok so far luckily i checked amperage specs before purchase to make sure i wont starve anything of power, but i can see where this can be a problem especialy when a multiple rail psu has different amperage specs for different rails, this seems really out of line. Thank you for your input gentlemen i have been searching around for diagrams to ease my mind and to see that my thinking was not too far off. :emot-tip-wink:

Bas, quoting from experience of Qtec a few years back.......... ( :bonk: <---- Had to have sense knocked into me  :lol_anim:)

When I benchmarked with Performance Test 2.1, the difference between Qtec 450/500W against Enermax 365 was about 30% increase with Enermax installed......... :emot-tip-wink:

Yes, still have that PSU......... :baby:

Anyway,

99.9% of computer users are happy with systems and psu, it's only the 0.01% that have issues with system.

There are probably only 20,000 people in a World of over 8 Billion people, who care what psu they use...........

I would think it's larger than that Del--maybe by a factor of 10.

There are only probably 20,000................. :D

I looked at the specifications for 2 or 3 of the "new" Q-tec units--not one entry about the amps for any rails. The download manual is a joke as well.

omg.. someone gives award to Q-tec and claimed as Excellent product http://www.ciao.co.uk/Q_Tec_Power_supply__Review_5406231

Advantages:
Very cheap, 2 fans  :agrees:
Disadvantages: None  :D

P.S: Still lag for Vista support, driver is missing:  :-))

to Hans, Bas, Frankenputer, AaronYuri:

Why do you say that?
More than 50% of the market means "office computers": cheap processor, onboard video, sound & network.
A 350W (cheap) PSU is more than enough and Q-Tec is a good choice in this case.

Of course, the future is cloudy ...
Next year you'll need a Core 2 Octal, 8GB DDR4, 4x 9800GTX and 1500W PSU.
Otherwise you won't be able to play Crysis 2 at a decent framerate ...

Well, a Q-tec is perfect for a business that wishes to commit insurance fraud. All they need to do is wait it out and the PSU will explode, catch fire, and burn down the building. Cha-ching!!!

Q-tec has a bad reputation for failure and taking components with it--and yes, I'm not exaggerating, causing combustion.

@RemusM,

I would not put a Q-Tec in my office when I get it for free.
A UK magazine tested the 600W to see how good it was, it ate a well over 1000W to deliver it, sort of, but then to spring the 16A surge protector....
I wonder what would have happened if it did cut the power.
The testing magazine was http://www.pcper.com/

Can't find the article right now, but no way on earth I will ever use Q-Tec junk.
A noname cheap PSU is more trustworthy ;)

If you own a 2000 USD rig is more than a stupidity to buy & use a cheap PSU for it.

Yes Bas, we got almost the same results here, but you're missing the main point:
if you buy a cheap PSU, it's not wise to load it over 70% (400W in this case).
Few "checkpoints":
1) the world is full of dumbs
2) when you buy a (very) cheap PSU, never bet of its rated power!
3) if you own a Core 2 Extreme, 4xHDDs and a "hungry for resources" VideoCard, do NOT use a cheap PSU.

"A noname cheap PSU is more trustworthy".
I agree with that, but Q-Tec is still in business, isn't it?
