Question about "Gaming Device Port"

Hi.  I'm considering purchasing an MSI motherboard for the gaming USB ports and I wanted to know if these ports would run an old 125hz-only mouse like the WMO or IME at 1000hz when plugged in, and if it would require a driver/utility or if it automatically runs at 1000hz.

If it does require a utility/driver, can I use it on Windows XP?

Thanks!

Which exactly motherboard?
Also if you're willing to use something like Z87 or above, it has very little XP support, and as far as I can see, drivers for these motherboards are not available for XP- (Win7 or above is supported)

I was looking at getting the z97 Gaming 7, Although I wouldn't have expected the gaming ports to be different on any model

XP is my preferred operating system for various reasons (I'll be dual-booting Win7 for the purpose of playing DX10+ games, but XP will be the primary OS)

I'm aware that the support is limited, but I don't think I should have very many issues.  I don't believe having every single driver installed to be completely necessary, and I already have an XP disc with Intel AHCI drivers slipstreamed onto it which is the primary issue that people run into with trying to install XP on modern hardware.

The only concern I have is whether the BIOS supports legacy/non-EFI operating systems, but I've done some googling and there seem to be others running XP on MSI z97 boards, so I think I'll be good to go.

UEFI is optional feature there :)

I cannot find any information regarding red USB ports but according to the specification, these are meant to be a bit faster and more responsive than standard USB 2/3.0 ports. For actual numbers best if you ask MSI about it:

I would love to be able to contact MSI directly, but I don't seem to be able to without first owning and registering one of their products.

It would be convenient if they would have clearer documentation on this feature; I'm finding it strange that google isn't turning up anyone who has the information I'm looking for, either.

Surely someone has got to own one of these motherboards and a 125hz mouse.

The main reason I'm inclined to believe that these ports poll at 1000hz by default is because it claims to lower mouse response time from 8ms to 1ms... Implying that a 125hz mouse will run at 1000hz.  I would be -very- pleased if this were the case.
