Now i want RAID 0 Stripe,
so i format, 1 drive of 80 GB is detected
then when i want to install my OS
i get an error (every time i try there's a different error)
i tried installing WIN 98 SE, Me and XP

hi, did you install the Promise RAID drivers during the installation of OS?

For Win2k and XP, after you've prepared the RAID arrays in the BIOS, and begin installation by booting from the Win2k or WinXP CD, press F6 when it asked for 3rd party SCSI drivers. Insert the RAID drivers floppy to the floppy drive and let the installer to load the drivers. After this is done, guide the installer to proceed to normal installation.

This should be it. Good luck!

Have you got a standard BIOS installed or have you got one of the modified ones?

I found that I couldn't install Win2k with a modified BIOS as the RAID drivers didn't detect the chipset.

hi,

The Maxtors, are they the new 133? If so, they're wrong labeled and you're running them as slaves instead of master. This causes timeouts, leading to errors. Putting them in the standard IDEs to check the Master/Slave config worked for me, no more errors :D

I had the same problem; WinXP, 2x120GB HD's, only one being recognized.

You're not going to like this, but here goes.... setup the RAID config in Fastrak, Install XP, go into Start/Settings/Control Panel/Administrative Tools/Computer Management/Disk Management. This will show all the disks connected to your system. Assuming that you are setting your RAID 0 as the C: partition (?) you'll have to format your second drive here, then delete the partition, and resize the C: partition to the correct, maximum size, denoting the storage of both drives as a single one.
Unfortunately, when resizing the partition for C: I believe that it'll force you to reinstall XP.....not sure on this point, since it's been 6 months since I did mine.

Hope that wasn't too confusing, and was able to help! ?(

TNX 4 the replies but a part of the problem is solved
BUT i'm gonna start a new thread as there's a new problem.
TNX for replying
