Hi all,

My new Raider 18 HX AI A2XW has just arrived, though it'll be a couple of days before I get around to setting it up.
Quick question in the meantime:

Am I okay to leave the recovery partition intact and simply install a fresh copy of Windows onto the main partition?
If I do this, will I still be able to revert to the original factory-installed Windows version using the recovery tools at a later date, should I need to?

Thanks in advance for any guidance!

And why would you want to save it? For future generations? But never the less (& yes I asked the same ?) You can copy the Recovery Partition to a favorite SSD drive or Clone it.
What I did is & was a complete waste of time, but yes! I too at this time did save the original MSI software for now. How ? I removed that 1TB drive & 1st went to a Samsung 990 Pro 2TB.
Cloned it from that original 1TB drive. That Samsung 990 Pro 2TB was then taken out & is no longer being used. Crucial T705 2TB is my current drive, not Cloned!
Anyway, I used UUPdump, got Windows Home, Windows Pro then Windows Enterprise (Yes it takes all 3, Home+Pro+Enterprise) Took that, then downloaded NTLite (Free version).
Proceeded to remove ALL non-English OS files & most of what MS bloatware apps have to offer, nothing ,well I did leave a few. That gave me an OS 23H2 with all the current updates at under 35 GB. Without doing this littlest of cleaning your OS will be 55 to 65 GB, for just the OS. NTLite Free version, works like a champ! Note, one has to clean all "3" versions (Home, Pro & Enterprise) because these language files are in all 3 versions that makes up the Enterprise OS version. Change_Windows_Edition.cmd & HWID_Activation.cmd by massgrave.dev/ will finish your installation off & activated, HWID is the best way. What ever you do, enjoy my friend.
Recovery Partition? The newest ISO install is my version of any type of a recovery. NTLite & it's forum can show/guide one to add their needed drivers & apps & software programs to their install ISO, but that privilege will come a modest cost (not in the Free version) but is very much worth the cost of learning how & what NTLite has to offer. You could go the school but this OS lesson will not be taught there, oh wise one.

I normally keep the original SSD of each laptop, if 512GB I keep as backup, if ever I face a situation that i have no alternative, the ones that are 1TB, I clone them to 512GB,
I then use the 1TB in an enclosure as a USB drive, once a laptop dies on me, I use the SSD also as a USB drive, anything under 1TB is not very useful.
I prefer by far 2TB, but it's good to see the 4TB starting to drop in price, but I think it will be another 5 years at least, before I even consider a 8TB drive.

Thanks for your advice. I have installed a fresh copy of Windows on the C drive. After vigorous testing, I am happy with the system. I will shortly make a copy of the recovery drive and remove the partition to reclaim the 20 GB+ space. I have 2 x 2TB, which is more than enough for me, but I am going to remove the recovery anyway. So I agree with you :)

Good to see you have made a choice! I am on my 4th OS since 1/25. My 4 were, original, clone modded original, international all language version & now a en-US version. This en-US version I made is the best so far of any Windows 11 I have used. Again I say free NTLite works! Windows 11 23H2 has between 15 to 20 GB of OS language system files in it. How many do you need? Anyway now this laptop is running extremely well.
