I just bought the Raider GE78 HX 14VHG and according to the specs it has two SSD slots. Do I need a SSD mounting bracket kit for the empty slot? I haven't yet opened up the back. Is there any technical documentation for the Raider GE78 HX 14VHG?

Hard to really say, but I would imagine you shouldn't need any brackets, etc.....
I think the only way to find out will be to open it up and see. Sometimes they will require a bracket, sometimes they won't. I don't have the laptop, so I can't really help more than to say to open it up and check.

Either way, you should be able to contact MSI and get one, if it's not there.

The bottom appears to be in two sections. Do both sections need to be unscrewed? I have added PCI SSD to HP laptops but this is my first MSI.

I don't have the total numbers yet on the USB-C and USB-A port speeds but none of them appear to be USB 3.2 2x2. Even the back TB4 port which is supposed to emulate USB4 only responds as USB 3.2 1x1 speeds.

This is the GE78 HX 13th gen bottom. I have to imagine that the 14th gen bottoms aren't much or any different (since they probably use the same chipset, etc.....).

Here, you can see both PCIe M.2 drives.

As far as the USB ports, honestly, again, I can't comment. I don't have one (I wish), and I doubt I will get one anytime soon honestly.

Thank you very much.:-) I'll probably need a heat shield and a screw. Hopefully the motherboard has a standoff. I'll put up a different post later on my benchmark results.

I think my 13VH is the same to open so what I want to know do we need to take the top hinge off or not

I am planning on dropping 64g.ram inside mine but details seem to be different on opening the device. Some say to take the top hinge off and some say you don't need to.

Done my upgrade today was very simple remove the top hinge and back cover comes away eiser. Dropped my 64gb Ram in there and was done.

I am not increasing ram until MSI publishes a RAM approved list. Then I would choose the lowest wattage dimms verses the fastest if I really needed more memory.
